I traveled from Trang and stayed in Krabi for 3 nights. The first night I stayed at Tree Orange House on Walking Street at a special price of 600 Baht.
For the second and third nights, I stayed at Thai Hotel at 650 Baht per night. I had to move because I needed to upload videos; Thai Hotel has faster internet and is located in Krabi town. There are many hotels in Krabi. Backpacker tourists usually stay in town for easy walking and lots of food options, then buy tours to visit various islands by themselves. Another group of tourists stays at Ao Nang for the seaside atmosphere, but I think room rates there are generally more expensive than in town. The cost of living in town is reasonable, and you can find food at the morning market.
However, I feel the night market seems like a tourist night market, and the food is not very cheap, but I still eat there because I like the atmosphere. In summary, I recommend staying in town and buying tours to travel. But if you have money, stay with a beautiful view at Ao Nang or Railay, stay by the sea, eat, travel, and swim as you wish. Accommodation at Railay has two sides: the beautiful beach side with slightly more expensive lodging, and if you want cheaper accommodation, you can walk across to the other side where the beach is not beautiful and rocky, but the lodging is cheap with backpacker-style shops where tourists sit and eat.
Food is not exactly cheap, so please check prices first to avoid mistakes. This area mostly has foreigners, so finding Thai food is a bit difficult. Railay is land, not an island, but mountains block it, so you must take a boat to visit. The beach is beautiful.
