Travel Loei Province: Visit the Sea of Mist at Pha Nok Aen, Phu Kradueng
Hiking up Phu Kradueng: Explore Phu Kradueng http://www.hotsia.com >> Visit the Sea of Mist at Pha Nok Aen, Phu Kradueng. By: Marapin. Marapin's Travel Book. Page: Two feet step into the darkness... Many people are walking briskly through the cold air, leaving the Wang Kwang Center, the lodging area, heading east toward Pha Nok Aen, the daily meeting point for travelers visiting the summit of Phu Kradueng. The only condition is if you can wake up early.

The freezing morning air probably makes us reluctant to poke our heads out from sleeping bags and the warmth of the tent. I often feel the same, even knowing that just a little further awaits a divine view. It takes strong willpower to finally unzip the tent and step out. These photos were taken during a strenuous climb up Phu Kradueng, where I experienced thick mist and a full sea of mist as intended. The atmosphere waiting for sunrise before dawn was truly amazing. Starting with
Everything was pitch dark, with only streetlights forming a long line in Phu Kradueng district below. Look closely and you'll see the main road lights of Loei province. Suddenly, a faint glow appeared on the eastern horizon, and shadows of mountains began to form. In the distance, Pha Nok Khao, the bus drop-off point for many visitors, stood tall and pointed. Behind it, a range of mountains stretched out. In front of us on the cliff edge, large pine trees with long branches and leaves created a perfect photo backdrop for Pha Nok Aen.
Though not as prominent as the pines at Pha Lom Sak cliff, these are equally beautiful and eye-catching, in my opinion. The feeling of seeing the horizon at dawn brings an indescribable joy. Perhaps this is why forest and mountain trips are so charming and challenging, requiring endurance to climb with your own legs, turning you into an addict of stunning views and untouched natural colors. During peak tourist season in winter, Pha Nok Aen offers hot coffee and tea for visitors to warm up.
It awakens your eyes to forget sleepiness as you stumble out of the tent. Some are even dragged by friends like spirits leaving their bodies. That day, the sea of mist at Pha Nok Aen was truly spectacular, like waves of mist rolling below us. The shutter clicks never stopped in excitement. Pha Nok Khao stood out like a giant rugged rock in a sea of white. Other cliffs mostly face the sunset, except for some months when Pha Mak Duuk allows a glimpse of the sunrise.
But that spot is less popular because the angle is not as beautiful. Therefore, Pha Nok Aen remains the unrivaled choice for watching the sunrise above Phu Kradueng's summit. However, you must hope for the sea of mist, as it doesn't appear often due to Thailand's increasingly dry weather. When there's too much water, flooding occurs. A crucial tip: beware of wild elephants. In recent years, wild elephants have frequently entered the path to Pha Nok Aen.
So along the way, you should follow park rangers or stay in groups. Even if you see tame elephants walking on Bangkok streets, never be careless. Never approach wild elephants. Do not shout loudly or take photos with flash, as the light may startle them and cause harm. Many don't realize that one of the fastest animals in Thailand's forests is the elephant. If you encounter one, slowly back away and abandon plans to go that way.
Do not underestimate the situation by thinking the elephant has left just because you can't see it. The sea of mist at Pha Nok Aen, Phu Kradueng.
