Travel Nakhon Sawan: The 100-Year-Old Market by the Chao Phraya River

The 100-Year-Old Market in Nakhon Sawan by the Chao Phraya River http://www.hotsia.com > Travel Nakhon Sawan > The 100-Year-Old Market by the Chao Phraya River The 100-Year-Old Market in Nakhon Sawan is a hundred delicious tastes by the Chao Phraya River. I used to drive past Nakhon Sawan and only thought of mochi and the Pak Nam Pho Goddess Festival. That was all I could think of. But my perspective changed completely when I took the free train from Phitsanulok to Nakhon Sawan, then walked to explore the 100-Year-Old Market in Nakhon Sawan.

This place is outstanding for food. All the dishes are delicious, and each vendor is passionate about their craft. People queue up to buy. Along the Chao Phraya riverside, it has become a hub of tasty food known well only to locals in Nakhon Sawan. Tourists usually just pass by, buy mochi, and head back to Bangkok. Previously, I found a shop with the same name at the Nan River night market in Phitsanulok (see Je Huay Phitsanulok shop). Passing by just one night, I found the same-named shop here.

Moreover, the Nakhon Sawan shop is even bigger. I learned it is the original shop of Phitsanulok. That's why this oyster omelet shop is always crowded at mealtime. Besides that, there is the "Hui Fried Rice" shop, a simple-looking made-to-order food place but so delicious that people queue up to buy. Another shop is worth watching just for the stir-frying skills — you must watch them cook to truly enjoy the taste. Next is a shop with very fresh seafood; customers never stop coming. The large sweet clams are amazing. Also, there is the "Joy" shop.

I like this shop because they boil red beans and mung beans to sell; it looks very appetizing. The "Yentafo Je Kiao" shop is extraordinary. I didn’t try the twelve-ingredient noodle soup, but after talking with the vendor, I learned the name has a lucky origin, not related to the Twelve Panas as I initially thought. Lastly, for Muslim visitors, this market will not disappoint. I saw many Muslim customers enjoying their meals here, which must mean it’s really delicious. Remember, when you come to Nakhon Sawan, don’t just buy mochi and leave. Drive to visit the 100-Year-Old Market by the river, and you’ll be impressed.

Even the three-stove shop can’t keep up with Je Huay’s sales. You can see Thai Muslims sitting and eating here. This visitor is enjoying sticky rice stuffed with jackfruit. Fried mantis shrimp bread is sold at the same shop — how do they go together? Confusing. Fresh fried steamed dumplings — I saw this for the first time.
