Satun Travel Information http://www.hotsia.com > Travel Satun > Satun Travel Information Getting to Lipe Island Satun Province borders Malaysia. The area of the province, especially Mueang District, is a peninsula extending into Malaysia. At the border is Padang Besar, not far from Satun town. Satun has an international port where you can take a boat to Langkawi Island, Malaysia. This makes Satun town small but not quiet.

I traveled to Satun after visiting Lipe Island, then came to Pak Bara Pier. From there, I took a songthaew to La-ngu, then a van to Satun town. The trip took 30 minutes. Since Satun is a border province, its culture is very interesting to me. In Satun town, I strolled through the night market and morning market, had breakfast at the famous Ko Auan restaurant, then tried the well-known roti at Aseef Roti shop.

Just walking around the town to see the local lifestyle was worth it. In Satun, I bought Indonesian-style sarongs sold in town as gifts for my mother. The fabric patterns are beautiful and of good quality, not available in central Thailand. There are few accommodations in Satun town because it is mostly a transit province from Malaysia to Hat Yai. I stayed at Singkiat Thani Hotel, which I think is the largest in Satun town. The room cost 700 baht per night on the 6th floor.

Looking at the view of Satun town, you can see it is a very peaceful town. The houses look old and wooden. It is a border province with Malaysia that is very worth visiting. mr.hotsia Nov 2011 Walking clip in Satun Osui Road clip Satun 6 36 51.269 N, 100 3 55.793 E GPS coordinates (POI) shot from the 6th floor of Singkiat Thani Hotel Travel map to Satun Province 6 36 47.375 N, 100 3 53.177 E Satun province's local sweets 6 36 59.778 N, 100 3 58.037 E 6 36 59.58 N, 100 3 56.513 E
