Mr.Hotsia visits Ubon Ratchathani Walking Street open Fridays and Saturdays from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM along the rim of Sri Muang Field near the nine-story hotel. That area is already a night market every day. Ubon Walking Street focuses on youth fashion, general goods, home decoration, and dressing. There are some cultural performances, with children playing the phin by the roadside. What I like the most, watching for a long time, is authentic Molam: an elderly couple playing the khaen, singing and dancing along with the khaen. It’s a scene I used to see only on TV.
Encountering the real thing, I loved it. I love Molam songs and Isan music. I wish there were more stages for Isan cultural performances. I think it’s a charm of Ubon that hasn’t been fully showcased at Ubon Walking Street.
