Palm Reading at Hub Mok, Chiang Mai: A New Experience Combining Belief and Nature

When it comes to traveling in Chiang Mai, many people think of high mountains, hill tribe lifestyles, or ancient temples. But for me, mr.hotsia, my latest trip toHub Mok, Samoeng Districtactually introduced me to a new dimension of travel that not only showcases the beauty of nature but also offers deep insights into the mind and beliefs through the ancient art ofpalm reading.I want to share this here because it was a unique and very memorable experience.

Palm reading, or fortune telling as some call it, is not a new concept nor limited to Thailand. It is a practice with long roots across many continents and cultures. Whether one believes or not, for me, sitting and listening to predictions from a palm reader feels like a moment to reflect on past life events and helps me focus more clearly on the future.

The Journey to Hub Mok: Not Far but Profound

Traveling from Chiang Mai city to Samoeng District is easy. Take the Krisada Doi route; after driving about 20-30 kilometers from Chiang Mai, look to your right for a clear sign that says "Palm Reading." That’s my destination this time, the home ofAjarn Saka well-known palm reader in the area whom I met in person.

Ajarn Sak doesn’t just use palm lines to predict life; he also incorporates the birth date of the person being read, making the predictions more detailed and profound. Many who have had their palms read by Ajarn say he is "accurate." Both Thai and foreign tourists visiting Samoeng want to try palm reading and hear predictions from him. While I can’t say how accurate the predictions are, the experience of sitting and focusing on his words was very worthwhile to me.

Hub Mok: More Than Just Palm Reading

Ajarn Sak’s home is not just a fortune-telling place but also a small coffee shop where you can sip fragrant coffee while enjoying the beautiful natural scenery around. The atmosphere at "Hub Mok" is peaceful and filled with the shade of trees and flowers, making it feel like a rest for both body and mind.

I remember while sipping coffee, I talked with many tourists, both foreigners fascinated by Thai culture and Thais open to new beliefs. All of this made me feel that palm reading here is not just about predicting the future but also an activity that enriches the journey with a dimension of thought and spirit.
