Omkoi Resort: A chill riverside accommodation by the Mae Tuen River in Chiang Mai you shouldn't miss
Hello, I'm mr.hotsia. Today, I want to take everyone to experience traveling in Omkoi, a small district in the south of Chiang Mai province, where nature remains pure and truly peaceful. For anyone planning to relax in Omkoi, I recommend the accommodation I have personally experienced and was very impressed with, which isOmkoi ResortA small resort located right by the Mae Tuen River. The clear, cool water flows gently, offering an atmosphere unlike anywhere else in Chiang Mai.
Omkoi Resort caters to adventurous travelers and tourists who want to experience the authentic northern lifestyle. Here, there are various types of accommodations ranging from standalone houses with private bathrooms to budget rooms without air conditioning or fans. But don’t worry about the cold because Omkoi gets so chilly at night that you really need a jacket. Some nights the temperature might be lower than you expect.
I stayed in the most economical room without air conditioning or fans and used shared bathrooms, but I felt it was worth the price of only 250 baht per night. The sound of the Mae Tuen River flowing past the front of the accommodation helped lull me to sleep better than expected. Importantly, free WIFI internet is also available here, perfect for those who want to relax but still stay connected to social media.
Strolling along the Mae Tuen River and the atmosphere of Omkoi through mr.hotsia’s eyes
When I arrived at Omkoi Resort, the atmosphere reminded me of true rural tranquility. The Mae Tuen River is clear and very cold, with small fish swimming around. I spent time sitting on the balcony of the accommodation, enjoying the riverside view leisurely, not wanting to go anywhere. This place is perfect for those who want to escape the hustle and bustle of the big city, to listen to the sounds of nature and relax here for a night or two.
Besides the accommodation at Omkoi Resort, there are many interesting places nearby, such as San Thong Temple, which is the main temple of Omkoi district. I have visited and was very impressed.Visiting San Thong Temple in OmkoiThis temple houses Phra Chao San Thong, a beautiful golden Buddha statue highly revered by the people of Omkoi. It is one of the must-visit check-in points when you come to Omkoi.
Accommodation options in Omkoi are limited but very worthwhile at Omkoi Resort
There are only a few main accommodations in Omkoi. I know two places: "Omkoi Resort," where I stayed, and another called "Sritong Ville," located slightly before the Omkoi town center. Personally, I recommend staying at Omkoi Resort because it is more convenient, close to the community, and has a more beautiful riverside atmosphere.
Each house at Omkoi Resort is simply decorated but warm, with options for private bathrooms. It is suitable for families or groups of friends who want to sleep comfortably without air conditioning. But for adventurous travelers who want to save money, there are also the cheapest rooms available, which I have tried and found very worthwhile.
Comfort and things to know before coming to Omkoi
There is no air conditioning in Omkoi, but don’t worry about the heat because the weather is very cool at night. Be sure to bring a jacket. Also, Omkoi Resort offers free WIFI, so you won’t miss staying connected to the outside world if you need to check information or update social media.
Getting to Omkoi is not too difficult. You can use a private car or public bus from Chiang Mai city. If you enjoy natural routes and beautiful scenery, I recommend stopping by the town of Hod or visitingJaeng Muang Restaurantin Mae Chaem first. It’s a restaurant I have eaten at many times, with a great atmosphere, perfect for resting before continuing on to Omkoi.
Omkoi Resort, the true resting place of southern Chiang Mai
At Omkoi Resort, you will experience a simple life close to nature and the local community. This place is suitable for those who want to relax slowly without rushing, watching the Mae Tuen River flow gently, chatting with the friendly resort owner, or walking around to take beautiful photos of the surroundings.
For anyone interested in experiencing the charm of Omkoi and looking for affordable accommodation with a great atmosphere, this is the answer that mr.hotsia sincerely recommends. Just 250 baht per night with river views and such tranquility is rarely found in Chiang Mai.
