Mak Kep's First Time Seeing a Tank at the 2019 Children's Day Event, Military Camp, Chiang Rai

I, mr.hotsia, had the opportunity to visit a Children's Day event at a military camp in Chiang Rai province in 2019. It was an exciting and unique experience for me, especially seeing a real tank for the first time in the life of Mak Kep, a local little boy who came with his family. The event was held in a fun and warm atmosphere, with activities for children to play and learn, including displays of military weapons and equipment used by soldiers. I, driven by curiosity, made sure to capture photos and record memories of this special occasion.

Chiang Rai is a province I know well, with many attractions I have written about before, such asWat Rong Khunthe world-famous white temple, or the atmosphere in Chiang Rai city that I enjoy strolling around and staying atSuknirand Hotelan affordable hotel located in the heart of the city near the Chiang Rai Clock Tower and the charming morning and evening markets.

The Children's Day event at this military camp is notable for giving children and their parents the chance to get up close with military tools and equipment that we usually only see on TV or in movies. Seeing real tanks lined up neatly on a wide field excited Mak Kep and the other children greatly. I saw Mak Kep running around, smiling, and pointing to show his parents the tanks. His questions were full of curiosity about how the tanks work and what weapons they carry.

Besides tanks, the event also featured demonstrations of basic military weapon use, displays of military uniforms, and creative activities for children such as coloring and games that promote safety knowledge and unity. This event is perfect for families who want their children to learn about the nation and the military up close without traveling far.

For those visiting Chiang Rai who want to experience this kind of atmosphere, although the Children's Day event is held only once a year, I recommend taking a stroll around the charming city of Chiang Rai, includingthe Saturday Walking Street “Kad Chiang Rai Ram Luek”or enjoying the light and sound show atChiang Rai Clock Towerdesigned by Ajarn Chalermchai Kositpipat, the creator of Wat Rong Khun, whom I greatly admire.

I personally love Chiang Rai's simple yet diverse atmosphere, including local food that I have become fond of at many places, such as Roy Han restaurant with its delicious braised beef basil, or P. Duck Noodle San Khi Bao. If you are interested, you can watch videos and find maps on my YouTube channel. The Ultimate Braised Beef BasilandP. Duck Noodle San Khi Bao

After the Children's Day event at the military camp, Mak Kep and I stopped by to relax and have coffee at the Yellow Car Café, not far from the Clock Tower. This is another spot I often recommend to visitors who want to experience the authentic Chiang Rai city vibe.

Chiang Rai is the city where I, mr.hotsia, never get bored traveling. There are always new stories to discover and share, whether it's the Children's Day event at the military camp, which was a special experience for Mak Kep and me, or strolling to enjoy local culture and the nature surrounding the city.

If you plan to visit Chiang Rai, I suggest allowing two to three days to fully experience both the city and its outskirts. You can visit Doi Chang, which I have written about inDriving Trip to Doi Changor stay at good, affordable accommodations I recommend inAffordable and Good Hotels in Chiang Rai Cityto make your trip even more worthwhile.
