Akha Cheers After the Dance at Ban Apha Pattana, Chiang Rai
As mr.hotsia who has traveled many times to experience the Akha hill tribe lifestyle, meeting the Akha people at Ban Apha Pattana, Mueang Chiang Rai District, was a unique experience filled with the warmth of the local community here.
Ban Apha Pattana is located in the highlands of Chiang Rai province. It is a quiet village that firmly preserves the traditional culture of the Akha people. I traveled up from Chiang Rai city through winding roads passing coffee plantations and lush green rice fields. This place is very different from the busy city life of Chiang Rai where I stayed before.Suknirand HotelNear the Clock Tower, the place I used as a base to explore many spots in Chiang Rai
Upon arriving at the village, I was welcomed with smiles and simple but sincere Akha greetings. Everyone here has a deep connection to their nature and culture, especially wearing their distinctive and beautiful traditional tribal costumes. I was fortunate to join the post-dance celebration “Akha Cheers,” organized by the villagers to celebrate unity and give thanks for the abundant nature.
The atmosphere at the event was filled with the booming sounds of drums and music throughout the village. The Akha people dressed in silver ornaments and colorful clothes danced joyfully. I felt the strong community spirit and genuine pride in their culture. Afterwards, I rested and ate at a local home, tasting fresh local dishes such as herb-grilled chicken and rare local vegetables not commonly found in the city.
Visiting Ban Apha Pattana is not just sightseeing but learning the lifestyle of the Akha people who still adhere to traditional customs. Although they are open to some changes from the outside world, they continue to preserve their roots and inherited knowledge. This is the charm of Chiang Rai that I want everyone to discover.
Connecting Akha Lifestyle with the Charm of Chiang Rai City
After experiencing the Akha rural lifestyle, I returned to live in Chiang Rai city. Here, there is both convenience and cultural diversity, along with many interesting tourist attractions such asWat Rong Khunor the world-famous White Temple, and the Chiang Rai Clock Tower near where I stayedSuknirand Hotelitself.
Chiang Rai is a charming city both day and night. I often recommend tourists to stroll alongSaturday Walking Street “Kad Chiang Khai Ram Luek”which is full of food, souvenirs, and local handicrafts, blending modern and traditional atmospheres perfectly. After experiencing the Akha rural lifestyle, this place completes the full Chiang Rai experience.

There you will find famous coffee plantations known by many and beautiful mountain scenery all year round.Driving Tour to Doi Changis another activity I really enjoy because you get to see scenic views and experience the cultures of the Akha and Lisu tribes living on the mountain.
