Strolling in Taphan Hin District with a real experience from mr.hotsia
When talking about Chiang Rai province, many might think of Wat Rong Khun or the clock tower in the city center, but this time mr.hotsia wants to take you to experience a different atmosphere, which is strolling inTaphan Hin Districtwhich hides the charm of simple yet profound local lifestyle and nature that many have never tried to experience themselves.
Departing from Chiang Rai city
I started from Chiang Rai city, staying at Suknirand Hotel near the clock tower, which is a very convenient central point for travelers (Affordable and good hotels in Chiang Rai city). Before departure, I energized myself with coffee from the yellow cart near the hotel. The aroma of traditionally brewed fresh coffee helped awaken my senses before driving to Taphan Hin District. It took just over an hour from Chiang Rai city, passing through routes filled with mountain views and fresh green rice fields.
Community atmosphere and lifestyle in Taphan Hin District
Upon arriving at Taphan Hin, the first thing I felt was the peacefulness of the community that still firmly preserves its unique traditional lifestyle. I strolled along the main street of the district, seeing local shops lined up, including grocery stores, local food vendors, and small fresh markets where villagers sell produce from their gardens and fields.
What impressed me the most was tasting the local food here, which is very different from city cuisine. The authentic flavors and aroma of local herbs made me feel like I was learning about the culture through the dishes. Not far from the market, there is a braised beef basil shop that I tried and must say the flavor was intensely satisfying. Anyone visiting Chiang Rai interested in local food should not miss the famous Roy Han restaurant in this area (Braised Beef Basil Review Clip)
Exploring lifestyle and culture
Strolling in Taphan Hin District is not only about experiencing nature and food but also seeing the villagers’ way of life connected to nature. They practice integrated farming, growing rice, vegetables, and raising animals simultaneously. When I visited during the rainy season, the green rice fields were full of growing rice, making the surroundings fresh and lively.
I spoke with some locals who shared stories about the district’s history and traditional farming methods, which impressed me with their simplicity and sustainable reliance on nature.
Connecting the experience with Chiang Rai travel
After spending the afternoon here, I drove back to Chiang Rai city, which still has many interesting attractions such asWat Rong Khunthe beautiful and world-famous white temple, or you can stroll and enjoy the evening atmosphere atChiang Rai city centerwhich offers a walking street and night bazaar for a relaxed stroll at your leisure.
If you enjoy travel that combines nature, culture, and local food, mr.hotsia recommends stopping by to stroll in Taphan Hin District at least once, as it will let you feel another side of Chiang Rai not usually seen in typical guidebooks.
