Travel Tapahan Hin Chiang Rai: The charm of riverside life in the northern city
When talking about Chiang Rai, many might think of the famous Wat Rong Khun or the beautiful clock tower in the city center. But for mr.hotsia, the journey toTapahan Hinis a unique and heartwarming experience. Tapahan Hin is not just an ordinary tourist spot but a riverside community full of local lifestyles. Here, mr.hotsia experienced tranquility, simplicity, and delicious local food worth sharing.
Route to Tapahan Hin
Traveling from Chiang Rai city center to Tapahan Hin is easy. mr.hotsia recommends travelers staying in the city, such as at Suknirand Hotel, where I stayed near the Chiang Rai Clock Tower, which is very convenient for city walks and easy day trips (Affordable and Good Hotels in Chiang Rai City). Then rent a car or hire a songthaew to Tapahan Hin, which takes about 30-40 minutes. The route passes through rice fields and villages where locals still maintain traditional lifestyles.
Riverside Atmosphere and Community Life
Tapahan Hin is located by the Kok River, the main river flowing through Chiang Rai province, creating a cool and refreshing atmosphere. mr.hotsia enjoys strolling on the old wooden bridge stretching across the river. Sometimes you see locals rowing boats to fish or children happily swimming. This community still preserves a simple way of life with a small riverside market selling fresh food, dried goods, and daily necessities.
What impressed mr.hotsia the most was the friendliness of the locals. Everyone greeted with smiles and was ready to share daily life stories or even invite to taste local dishes made from fresh ingredients from the river and nearby gardens.
Local Food at Tapahan Hin: A Must-Try Delight
If you visit Tapahan Hin, don't miss tasting local food at small riverside restaurants that mr.hotsia recommends, such as salt-grilled freshwater fish with a mild flavor or the original Hang Lay curry, rich and aromatic with spices. There are also spicy papaya salad and perfectly sweet sticky mango rice.
After a satisfying meal, mr.hotsia also stopped to try local coffee nearby, which offers a peaceful atmosphere perfect for relaxing and enjoying the view. Although not the famous Doi Chang coffee, it has its own unique charm.
Connecting to Other Attractions in Chiang Rai
Tapahan Hin is not far from other attractions that mr.hotsia has recommended, such as the world-renowned beautiful Wat Rong Khun (Wat Rong Khun, the White Temple of Chiang Rai) or a stroll in Chiang Rai city center in the evening toKad Chiang Khai Ramluk Walking Streetwhich offers both food and local handicrafts to browse and shop.
If you have more time, I recommend driving to Doi Chang to experience nature and the famous Doi Chang coffee or relax at various accommodations ranging from budget to luxury in Chiang Rai city (Affordable and Good Hotels in Chiang Rai City)
mr.hotsia's Tapahan Hin Trip Summary
For mr.hotsia, visiting Tapahan Hin is like opening a new experience to truly experience the lifestyle of Chiang Rai people. It is not just a beautiful spot on the map but a place where you see smiles and warmth from locals, taste food made with care, and relax with peaceful riverside nature.
If you are looking for a unique “Chiang Rai,” try walking around Tapahan Hin, and you will realize that the joy of travel does not have to be luxurious. Just experiencing real life as mr.hotsia does is already a fulfilling trip.
