Cruising from Bang Dad Pier to Ko Phra Thong: The Gateway to Serenity in the Andaman

Hello, I'm mr.hotsia. Today, I want to take everyone to explore one of my favorite boat routes in Phang Nga province, which is the journey fromBang Dad PiertoKo Phra Thongan island hidden in the embrace of the Andaman Sea. With its peaceful atmosphere and the simple lifestyle of the islanders, every time I arrive here, I feel like I can fully relax away from the hustle and bustle of the big city.

Bang Dad Pier: The Starting Point of the Adventure

Bang Dad Pier is located in Kuraburi District, Phang Nga Province, a place I have visited many times. Besides being the gateway to Ko Phra Thong, this area also has a charming and warm fishing community atmosphere. It's a spot I enjoy strolling in the early morning to feel the freshness of the sea breeze and the true scent of the ocean.

If you have read my article aboutKuraburi Bus Stationyou will understand that getting to Bang Dad Pier is not difficult. There are buses and songthaews connecting conveniently. I usually choose to travel by songthaew to experience the local atmosphere along the way.

Cruising to Ko Phra Thong: A Route Full of Stories

When boarding the boat at Bang Dad Pier, I usually choose a long-tail boat that feels more local than a large ferry. The sound of the engine mixed with the waves, and the cool breeze brushing my face make the journey not just a crossing but a true encounter with nature.

It takes about 30-40 minutes. The boat takes us through the deep blue sea scattered with small islets. During this time, I often take out my camera to capture beautiful views, sometimes spotting various birds flying by, and also witnessing fishermen heading out early to catch fish. It's a life scene closely connected to nature that impresses me.

Ko Phra Thong: An Island Preserving Purity and Traditional Lifestyle

Upon arriving at Ko Phra Thong, the first thing I notice is the tranquility and pure air of the island. The locals still live simply, mainly fishing and farming. I had the chance to chat with friendly islanders who warmly welcome tourists.

There are no luxury resorts or crowded tourist spots like other islands, making Ko Phra Thong perfect for those wanting to escape the noise, sit and read a book, listen to the waves, or stroll along the long white sandy beach stretching as far as the eye can see.

Exploring Ko Phra Thong: Nature and Local Food Not to Miss

One of my favorite highlights on Ko Phra Thong is the lush forest and beaches. I hiked up a hill to enjoy a panoramic view of the island and the Andaman Sea. I must say, this view made me feel lucky to see it with my own eyes.

Additionally, the local food on Ko Phra Thong is another charm I want to recommend, especially the dishStir-fried salted fish with pork bellywhich the islanders make themselves. It has a rich and balanced flavor, a dish not easily found elsewhere, and represents the simple home-style eating culture that impressed me.

Connecting and Expanding Experiences in Phang Nga Province

If you have more time and want to explore nearby areas, I recommend visiting the beautifulPhang Nga viewpointor walking through the fresh seafood market atKhao Lak Fresh Seafood Marketto experience the lifestyle and flavors of the sea directly from the source.

For those who enjoy nature and deep cultural travel, Phang Nga province still has many interesting islands and communities, such as Ko Yao Yai, which I have written about in the articleSweet Ko Yao Yai: Soaking in Hot Springs with a View of Phang Nga Bay and Motorbiking Around the Islandwhich is an experience I was equally impressed with.

Summary of Impressions from mr.hotsia

For me, the journey from Bang Dad Pier to Ko Phra Thong is not just crossing the sea to an island in Phang Nga, but a trip that connects me with nature, lifestyle, and authentic local food. Every time I return here, I feel recharged with peace and calm that cannot be found elsewhere.

If you are looking for a destination not yet disturbed by commercial tourism, I recommend experiencing Ko Phra Thong yourself. Then you will understand what true peace and natural beauty really are.
