Phet Lamphu Korean BBQ Sisaket: Replenish protein after a long trip

I, mr.hotsia, usually have a small tip when traveling on long trips in Isan and ASEAN regions such as Cambodia, Laos, or Vietnam: always stock up on protein before departure. Because Korean BBQ or pork pan restaurants abroad that I have encountered tend to be expensive and the quality is not as satisfying as in Thailand. Especially if you get to eat delicious Korean BBQ in Thailand before traveling, it’s definitely worth it.

The last time I traveled to Sisaket province, after driving along the Isan road with wide rice field views and experiencing ancient Khmer culture at various temples like Prasat Hin Wat Sa Kamphaeng Noi or Prasat Yoe, I stopped to recharge at a place known for its specialty in this city, which is “Phet Lamphu Korean BBQ.” This restaurant is located in the heart of Sisaket city, not far from the train station where I comfortably took a motorcycle taxi.

The atmosphere at Phet Lamphu is friendly, not as fancy as Korean BBQ restaurants in Bangkok, but it stands out for the quality of the meat and the delicious dipping sauce that I must say “meets my concept: full, tasty, and satisfying.” Thinly sliced meat with the aroma of grilling over a hot charcoal grill, offering both pork and Korean beef marinated with a balanced flavor that doesn’t need much extra seasoning. The Thai-style spicy seafood dipping sauce cuts through the richness very well.

My impression of Phet Lamphu is not just about the food but also the feeling of relaxation after a long journey on routes connecting to neighboring countries like Cambodia and Laos. Sisaket is not only rich in ancient sites and nature but also has local restaurants with bold flavors that travelers like me appreciate.

Sisaket: A city of rich history and diverse culture

If you have read my articleTravel Sisaketyou will know that this province holds great historical and cultural significance, especially in areas that were once ancient Khmer lands. The stone temples here are not only limited to Prasat Phra Wihan in Cambodia but also include Prang Ku and many well-preserved stone temples within the province.

Getting around Sisaket city is very convenient. I recommend trying a pedicab or motorcycle taxi to experience local life and see the city up close. For example, I once took a pedicab to Somdet Phra Srinagarindra Park, a shady public park that serves as a relaxing spot for locals, perfect for resting after visiting ancient sites and long travels.

Phet Lamphu Korean BBQ: A delicious experience not to be missed

After taking a motorcycle taxi from the train station downtown, I fully enjoyed my time at Phet Lamphu. This place is not just an ordinary Korean BBQ restaurant but is dedicated to selecting quality meat, served with authentic Korean side dishes and a special dipping sauce that blends perfectly with the bold flavors of Isan cuisine.

My favorite menu is the tender grilled meat, fragrant from the charcoal grill, served with fresh vegetables and hot steamed rice, making this meal an excellent energy boost before continuing my journey to neighboring countries.

For anyone interested in visiting Sisaket and wanting to try the food I recommend, this restaurant is a great choice. And if you love spicy Isan food, be sure to try the Lao-style somtum atBest Tum Laos Sisaketwhich I have also recommended in my video.

Connecting travel and culture

Sisaket is an important province connecting to Cambodia and Laos. Traveling from here to the Chong Jom or Chong Sa Ngam border checkpoints is very convenient. I have documented my travel experience from Surin to Chong Jom in articles and videos.Bus from Surin to Chong JomThis route is popular among adventurous travelers and gamblers.

After recharging with Korean BBQ at Phet Lamphu, I recommend taking a stroll through Sisaket morning marketSisaket Morning Marketor exploring the local lifestyle here. You will see fresh produce, local food, and fresh fruits and vegetables. It’s also a great opportunity to experience the harmonious cultural blend of Thai and indigenous Khmer people in the area.
