Eating Together in Trang City with mr.hotsia: Deeply Savoring the Authentic Trang Way of Life
“Trang” is a small province that many may only know for its beautiful sea or crab roe, but for me, mr.hotsia, Trang is a city of food with a unique charm. The food here is not just about eating to fill your stomach, but about experiencing the culture, lifestyle, and way of life of Trang people through simple dishes full of flavor and memories.
The last time I traveled to Trang city, I intended to truly eat together with the locals, not just stop by famous or tourist restaurants. I chose to experience the atmosphere of eating at markets and old eateries in the city, where the scent of fragrant rice and rich curry broth takes us back to the roots of authentic Trang living.
Trang Morning Market: The Perfect Start to Deliciousness
One morning in Trang city, I walked into the morning market.Trang Morning MarketThis is not just an ordinary fresh market but a hub for fresh ingredients and local dishes that are hard to find in other cities. Fresh vegetables, fruits, and fragrant curry pastes from long-established shops made me feel the dedication of Trang people who still maintain the quality of their ingredients perfectly.
I looked for my favorite foods, starting with hot sticky rice and a variety of side dishes, from grilled pork with intense flavor, perfectly balanced salty-sweet shrimp chili paste, to crispy yet tender fried eggs. Everything was priced wallet-friendly, and most importantly, the taste needed no extra seasoning because it was already perfectly prepared.
Eating Together at a Restaurant Near the Clock Tower: A Classic Not to Miss
From the morning market, I walked to the Clock Tower area, the city center of Trang. Here is one of my favorite curry rice shops, Sri Trang Clock Tower Restaurant, which I had seen in videos.Eating Curry Rice at Sri Trang Clock Tower Restaurant, Chiang RaiBut here, the flavors are specially adjusted to suit Trang locals.
The dish I chose that day was spicy stir-fried catfish, with fresh catfish meat stir-fried with authentic southern-style spicy curry paste. Eating it with hot steamed rice gave a very harmonious taste. This stir-fried spicy dish is not overly hot to burn the mouth but offers a deep fragrant curry flavor that truly touches the heart.
The atmosphere in the restaurant was lively, with both locals and travelers like me stopping by to recharge. Importantly, the prices were reasonable, making me feel I was eating food that was both delicious and good value.
Experiencing the Trang Way of Life Through Shared Meals
What impressed me most about eating together in Trang city was seeing people of all ages eating together, from little children to the elderly. There is no rush here, only warmth like eating at home. Neighbors chat, vendors greet customers like family. This is the charm of eating together in the mr.hotsia style.
Meals shared together don’t need to be fancy but must be full of care and fresh ingredients. Trang meets this perfectly because of its nearby sea that provides fresh seafood all the time and local vegetables grown naturally. This freshness is expressed in the curry broth, dipping sauces, and side dishes that clearly show the pride Trang people have in their hometown food.
Before Leaving Trang, Don’t Forget to Try Sea Crab at Hat Yao
If you are hooked on the taste of the sea after eating together in the city, I, mr.hotsia, recommend you continue toEat Sea Crab at Hat YaoHat Yao is not only a beautiful beach but also a source of fresh sea crabs caught daily by locals and simply prepared to preserve the true taste of Trang’s sea.
I have written about my experience eating authentic crab roe and curry powder crab stir-fry at Hat Yao. If you come to Trang and don’t try this, you’re seriously missing out. The freshness of the crab here is rare to find in big cities, and you also get to experience the warm and kind atmosphere of local fishermen, just like eating together in Trang city.
