Big C in Vinh seems to be a hub for Thai and Lao people who work or travel in this area because there are many Thai restaurants to choose from. What I liked most was the Thai hot pot restaurant "Lau Thai" which operates seriously, not just a small stall or ordinary shop. Here, the hot pot is fully loaded with ingredients and broth, unlike typical Thai restaurants abroad that often adjust flavors to suit local tastes.

I ordered a hot pot with fresh pork, fish balls, a variety of fresh vegetables, and a spicy authentic Thai broth. The rich and balanced flavor with spices like lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves, garlic, and fresh bird's eye chili helped me sweat and warmed my body well on this cool day in the city.

The atmosphere in the restaurant was very friendly, with many Thai and Lao customers because Vinh has a considerable community of Thai and Lao workers. I talked with the owner, a Thai person who is dedicated to introducing our home food to Vietnamese and foreigners. The special thing about this restaurant is that some ingredients are directly imported from Thailand. Some fresh vegetables that are rare in Vietnam are also available here.
