Binh Duong Province, the land of craftsmanship and charm in southern Vietnam
When it comes to Binh Duong Province, many people may not be very familiar with the name because this province is not a popular destination for foreign tourists. But for me, mr.hotsia, traveling here was an eye-opening experience that allowed me to truly experience local life. Binh Duong Province is located north of Ho Chi Minh City, only about 30 kilometers away. Its proximity to the big city makes it a province that perfectly blends urban and rural life.
Binh Duong Province borders Binh Phuoc Province to the north and Dong Nai Province to the east. Its capital city is Thu Dau Mot, which serves as the economic and transportation center of the province. I traveled from the Northern Bus Station in Ho Chi Minh City toThu Dau Mot Bus Stationwhich is located next to the Co.op Mart in the city center. However, Thu Dau Mot city remains peaceful and not as crowded as Ho Chi Minh City.
Thu Dau Mot City, the capital of craftsmanship and local lifestyle
If you are looking for tranquility and want to experience authentic local life, Thu Dau Mot is the answer. I, mr.hotsia, spent one night here before continuing to Binh Phuoc Province. The city has small hills and banana groves scattered around. Most locals still raise chickens and practice traditional farming. Their lifestyle is simple yet friendly, quite different from the hustle and bustle of big cities.
There are not many hotels or accommodations in the city, and prices are affordable, suitable for travelers seeking a relaxed stay. If you exitThu Dau Mot Bus Stationand turn left, you will find the main road connecting to the city center. You can easily hire a motorbike taxi to your accommodation or other places.
Outstanding craftsmanship and local art
Binh Duong Province is famous for its traditional villages with exquisite craftsmanship, especially master woodcarvers. There are also unique glazed pottery, ceramics, and plaster sculptures. These works are not only household items but are also exported to France and several countries in Southeast Asia.
I, mr.hotsia, had the opportunity to visit these villages and talk with veteran artisans who have preserved traditional techniques with great dedication. This pride is the heart of Binh Duong’s culture that should never be forgotten.
Football team and local pride
Besides craftsmanship, Binh Duong Province is also well-known in football. The provincial football team won national championships in 2007 and 2008. This success brought pride to the people and helped build a strong sense of unity among the Binh Duong community.
Travel and experiences by mr.hotsia
For traveling to this province, I chose to take a bus from Ho Chi Minh City toThu Dau Mot Bus Stationwhich is a great starting point to explore Thu Dau Mot city and its surroundings. The bus traffic is not heavy, so the station atmosphere is calm compared to big cities. Traveling is convenient for connecting to nearby provinces like Binh Phuoc or Dong Nai.
During my stay, I walked around local markets and tried authentic Vietnamese dishes that are hard to find in big cities, such as grilled button squid and chicken biryani, which I shared in videos on my YouTube channel recommended by mr.hotsia.Vietnamese Grilled Button SquidandVietnamese Chicken BiryaniIt was a great opportunity to experience genuine local flavors up close.
Why should you visit Binh Duong?
If you enjoy discovering places that are peaceful and full of authentic local stories and culture, Binh Duong Province is an interesting choice. It’s not just a passing city but a path that reveals the simplicity of life, warm communities, and beautiful craftsmanship. Visiting Binh Duong will show you a different side of Vietnam, completely distinct from the image of Ho Chi Minh City.
