Hotels in Tra Vinh – A small city full of warmth

If you are planning to visitTra Vinh Provinceor the capital city with the same name, “Tra Vinh,” one of the most common questions is “Where should I stay?” From my personal experience traveling on my own, I must say that there are not many hotels in downtown Tra Vinh. I saw and explored fewer than five places.

Since this city remains a small town full of the charm of riverside village life along the Mekong River, accommodation prices are quite cheap compared to larger cities in Vietnam. Most rooms are priced between 300-500 baht per night, which is very good value for rooms equipped with air conditioning, usable WIFI internet speed, and hot water.

Why stay more than one night?

Tra Vinh is not a city to just rush through. The atmosphere here is slow and full of natural beauty, giving the feeling of stepping into another world where the traditional lifestyles of Khmer and Vietnamese people blend perfectly. Walking through the local fresh market or watching villagers fishing along the Tra Vinh River is an experience not easily found in big cities.

During my stay here, I walked around the morning and evening markets atTra Vinh Marketwhich is a large market stretching along the river with clearly divided zones, from fresh fruits, fish, dried goods to meat. All of this gives a warm and sincere feeling of a small town market, which I prefer over busy large markets.

How to travel and stay in Tra Vinh city

For those interested in coming to Tra Vinh city, I will share the route I took. From Ho Chi Minh City, it takes about 4-5 hours by bus. If you travel from nearby provinces like Can Tho, it takes less time. Arriving in this city may require taking a motorbike taxi from the Tra Vinh bus station, which is about 7 kilometers outside the city. The fare is inexpensive, around 30-40 baht.

As for me, I traveled in a rather unusual way: first crossing the Hau River by ferry, then riding a motorbike on the river island’s sandbar to the other side before taking a bus to downtown Tra Vinh. When I got off the bus in front of Tra Vinh Market, I tastedboiled corn from Tra Vinhwhich was delicious and perfectly sweet, marking the beginning of experiencing the local lifestyle and flavors here.

Accommodation atmosphere and what you should know

Hotels in downtown Tra Vinh are not luxurious but focus on simplicity, cleanliness, and friendliness for travelers who enjoy privacy and tranquility. Most rooms have air conditioning and hot water, which is very important during hot and humid weather. There is also wireless internet available, suitable for tourists who want to stay connected or share travel photos.

Compared to the lower cost of living than many cities in Vietnam, this place is very suitable for those who want to truly relax without rushing, have time to get to know the locals, and fully explore the city.

What mr.hotsia recommends when staying in Tra Vinh

Besides relaxing in the hotel, I want you to try walking around the fresh market near the hotel and don’t forget to taste the local dish “snakehead fish noodle soup,” which has large boneless fish pieces, easy to eat, and so delicious that I ordered an extra 15 baht worth of fish meat.Snakehead fish noodle soup shop in Tra Vinhis still located in an area where you can see locals carrying goods from the market back home, a lifestyle scene that impressed me greatly.

If you like this kind of atmosphere, staying here for at least two nights will allow you to fully immerse yourself in the peace and simple life of this riverside town. Mr.hotsia believes you will fall in love with Tra Vinh just like I did.

Summary

Tra Vinh is a small city full of warmth and the charm of Mekong riverside life. There are not many hotels here and prices are affordable, suitable for travelers who want to experience the real life of Vietnamese-Khmer villagers together. Mr.hotsia recommends allowing more than one night here to experience a variety of things, including local food, fresh markets, and the peaceful, friendly atmosphere of a small town.
