Affordable accommodation and food zone for independent travelers and backpackers in Hanoi is the Phu Ha Teo area, also known as the Old Church district. This church is located on Le Quoc Su street, not far from Hoan Kiem Lake or Hoan Kiem Lake. I recommend staying and eating around here. There are many tours for sale, food is convenient, many tourists, and it feels safe. The airport shuttle stops right in front of the church, and coming from the airport, the vehicle also stops in front of the church.
Tours are cheaper when there are many people. Remember the name of this area well. I travel to Hanoi every time and mostly stay around here. Since I come often, I have some restaurant recommendations: Coffee Jo Ma Hanoi, street rice porridge near the Old Church area, grilled fermented pork or grilled pork near the Old Church area, Hanoi roast duck on the way to Hanoi Circus Theater, rice soup at stall 37, noodle shop near the Old Church area, kebab + French bread.
