If you take a boat to Ham Ninh town, that's one market where live seahorses are sold for 75 baht each. They also sell dried seahorses, starfish, and other unusual items. This is the market for those. Traveling by boat from the mainland to this town allows you to visit this interesting small roadside market. Another main market is the fresh market located in Duong Dong town.
This is a fresh market where Phu Quoc locals buy and sell fish, squid, shrimp, and daily food. The market here is not as large as the Ha Tien fish market but has charm in its narrow central walkway filled with people, motorcycles, and bicycles, creating a busy scene. I myself rode a motorcycle through this market path, which counts as basic motorcycle riding experience in Vietnam. To get to this market, walk along the seafood street to the end and then turn left.
A little further is a temporary bridge crossing the river to the market. This bridge allows vehicles to cross at 8:30 AM. At night, I understand it opens for fishing boats to pass through. This bridge is only for pedestrians, motorcycles, and bicycles. Another market is in the old town at the island's tip called An Thoi Quoy. Few tourists reach there. I went in the afternoon when there was not much activity, but I think the morning is interesting because it is a large pier with many people.
