The affordable food zone in Sapa is located just south of the morning market. Click the GPS coordinates above the image to see the location. There are stalls where local hill tribe people who come to the market eat. You can order stir-fried tofu to eat with rice. Many foreigners also sit here. At the end of the row, I recommend the restaurant shown in the picture. They offer a wide variety of delicious food. Eat well before heading to Cat Cat Village or continue motorbiking around. Another area is the bars located at the corner of the sports field.
Many Vietnamese tourists eat here. I think the prices are fair and the food is authentically Vietnamese. The upstairs restaurants near the market front cater to tourists with various price ranges. You might have a light meal like Western-style breakfast and enjoy Vietnamese coffee while watching hill tribe people walk around during the morning market. Highly recommended for the great atmosphere. When traveling on a budget, you should have at least one meal enjoying the local view and local food. Even if the price is a bit higher, the experience is worth it.
