This time, I intentionally cruised deeper into Cambodia to uncover the secret of a fish that local villagers have long talked about for its unusual shape unlike any other.

As my boat floated along the Mekong current, I met local fishermen managing their catch near the shore. They smiled warmly and gladly shared stories about the mysterious fish I saw. "This is a rare fish found in the Mekong," a young man told me, pointing to a fish with a rather strange shape, large size, curved fins like a water dragon, and colors unlike typical Mekong fish.

These strange fish are not only a natural curiosity but also reflect the richness of the Mekong River ecosystem, which still maintains its biodiversity well. I recalled the times I visited the Stung Market,a market full of fresh natural products,just like here, where locals sell various fish enthusiastically. Seeing these strange fish reminded me of the market atmosphere and local dishes I once tasted in southern Cambodia, such as in Kampot Province,which offers plenty of fresh seafood,or even grilled beef rice porridge in Svay Rieng Province,where I sat and chatted with locals.These feelings are connected by the sincerity of the locals and the nature that remains abundant.
