Backpacking Indonesia 1/27: Journey to Bali, Enjoying Balinese Cuisine (Backpack to BALI Indonesia)
Hello, I am mr.hotsia. I would like to share a new travel story full of excitement and the cultural essence of Bali Island, Indonesia. This island’s reputation hardly needs description because wherever you mention it, Bali is known as a paradise for adventure travelers and lovers of the unique Hindu culture.
Traveling from Ngurah Rai Airport to Bali City
I arrived at Ngurah Rai International Airport, the main gateway to Bali Island. After passing immigration and collecting my luggage, the first thing I did was arrange transportation to Bali city center. It was easier than expected because there are many taxis and shuttle services available for tourists.Traveling from Ngurah Rai Airport Bali to the CityI chose a taxi with clear and reasonable pricing to ensure a comfortable trip to the accommodation area in Kuta.
The Charm of Bali Beyond Beautiful Beaches
Bali doesn’t have the crystal-clear seas that many imagine because its coastline faces strong waves from the Indian Ocean. This makes it a paradise for surfers worldwide, especially Australians who come to challenge the waves at Kuta. But for me, mr.hotsia, Bali’s true charm lies not only in its sea but in the deeply rooted Hindu culture that remains strictly observed in daily life here.
Bali is a province of Indonesia that seriously practices Hinduism. Every home has a personal shrine, some large enough to resemble small temples. You will see offerings placed in front of houses, along streets, and various places to show respect to gods and nature spirits. There are also many ancient temples where tourists can closely observe rituals and the beauty of Hindu architecture.
Accommodation and Atmosphere in Kuta
I chose to stay in the Kuta area because it is close to the airport and a hub for tourists who enjoy beach vibes. There are budget hotels to luxury resorts. This area is full of restaurants, shops, and bars for nightlife lovers. I like the lively atmosphere here, making it a great starting point for island exploration.Exploring Bali on Your OwnI have also recommended this in a previous article.
Balinese Food You Shouldn’t Miss
Arriving in Bali, it’s natural to talk about the local food, which is very different from other parts of Indonesia. I, mr.hotsia, tried various local dishes with rich and unique flavors such as “Babi Guling,” Balinese roasted pork marinated with spices, or “Nasi Campur,” rice mixed with various side dishes including vegetables, fruits, and meats. There is also “Satay” served with a rich coconut milk sauce and unique spices.
Eating authentic Balinese food and experiencing the atmosphere of fresh markets or street food stalls here feels like connecting with the real Balinese way of life. Besides the delicious taste, you also witness food preparation full of rituals and respect for nature and gods.

Travel Routes and Experiences to Try
Besides resting and eating, Bali offers many interesting cultural attractions such as sacred water springs and traditional rice farming villages. I, mr.hotsia, had the chance to see Indonesian farmers planting rice on Bali Island myself, a beautiful scene full of stories to learn from, not just superficial tourism.

Budget Backpacker Trip to Bali
For those who want to visit Bali economically and experience the real lifestyle, I recommend booking flights in advance through various low-cost airlines such as AirAsia, Lion Air, or Jetstar, which are convenient and affordable. Additionally, traveling within Bali is easy by using public transport or renting a motorcycle to explore on your own.

Bali... An Island Full of Life and Spirit
Finally, for me, mr.hotsia, Bali is not just a beautiful island that tourists worldwide want to visit, but a land full of vitality, religion, and culture blended harmoniously. Traveling here allowed me to learn and absorb Indonesian culture in a deeper way than I had imagined.
If you are looking for a trip that combines the fun of the sea and rich culture, Bali is the answer you should not miss.
