Riding Laos High-Speed Train 8/10: Jin Dad Vang Vieng Blue Lagoon Motorcycle Tour in Vang Vieng with Riverside Views along the Song River

Hello, I’m mr.hotsia as usual. Today I will take everyone to experience a new journey in Laos, especially the popular route ofVang ViengThis time I chose to ride the Laos high-speed train, a new project that makes travel much more convenient and faster. From Vientiane to Vang Vieng takes less than an hour, no more tiring 4-hour van rides like before.

I started at the train station in Vientiane Province, the capital city I have previously described in the articleTraveling VientianeHere has the charm of strolling along the Mekong River in the evening. The newly completed riverside road has become a large park for locals and tourists to jog or chill while watching the big red sunset reflecting beautifully on the Mekong water. After that, I stopped to recharge with iced coffee atTrue Coffee VientianeA popular shop I like to hang out at, watch people, and use free WiFi before boarding the train.

Along the way on the high-speed train, the views on both sides of Laos are equally beautiful, alternating between limestone mountains and lush green rice fields. The train passes the Song River flowing through Vang Vieng. As I got closer, I felt very excited because this is the place I intended to ride a motorcycle to explore nature and the authentic lifestyle of the local Lao people.

Vang Vieng: A Small Town with Great Charm by the Song River

Vang Vieng is a famous and popular town among Thai and international tourists. With the clear Song River flowing through and uniquely shaped limestone valleys, this place is full of romantic atmosphere and enchanting nature. I got off the train and rented a motorcycle in front of the station to fully explore this town.

The first thing I recommend is to ride a motorcycle to the Blue Lagoon, locally called “Jin Dad,” a bright blue lagoon in the middle of the forested mountains. This spot is perfect for cooling off by swimming during the hot season. The water is so clear you can see the bottom clearly. It’s a must-visit spot for tourists.

After swimming at the Blue Lagoon, I rode the motorcycle along the Song River on the designated route. There are many beautiful viewpoints to stop and take photos. Sometimes I stopped to walk along the riverbank. The gentle cool breeze made me feel extremely relaxed. I think this feeling is unique to Laos. The Song River here is not very deep, suitable for swimming and kayaking.

Enjoying the Breeze, Views, and Riverside Lifestyle along the Song River

During my trip in Vang Vieng, I stopped for lunch at a small local restaurant by the Song River. This place offers authentic Lao dishes such as fish larb, pork nam tok, and sticky rice. The flavors are spicy and bold in true Lao style. Eating while enjoying the view is exactly the kind of experience I love when traveling abroad—not just seeing places but truly experiencing the local life.

For those who like activities, I recommend trying kayaking along the Song River or hiking up the hills to see the high viewpoint of Vang Vieng. You will see the Song River winding beautifully through the limestone mountains.

Connecting the Vang Vieng Experience with Vientiane

For anyone planning to travel Laos, I recommend starting in Vientiane because it is convenient and has good coffee shops likeTrue Coffee Vientianewhere I like to relax after walking around, or tryKhao Piak Vientianean authentic Lao breakfast that is hard to find in big cities. Then continue traveling to Vang Vieng by high-speed train, or if you want a traditional atmosphere, you can still choose to take the van as before.

If you like peace and want to soak in the Mekong riverside atmosphere, I recommend walking along the Mekong River in Vientiane in the evening before taking the train to Vang Vieng. I guarantee you will see a beautiful sunset view as stunning as anywhere else.

Summary of a Special Experience from mr.hotsia

This ride on the Laos high-speed train was a very impressive experience for me, mr.hotsia, because it was not just a convenient and fast journey but also gave me the chance to deeply experience the charm of Vang Vieng and Vientiane. Riding a motorcycle along natural routes by the Song River and sipping iced coffee at local cafes was the perfect combination for this Laos trip.

If you have the chance, don’t forget to follow my footsteps, mr.hotsia, and you will realize that Laos is not only about nature but also has an interesting lifestyle and an atmosphere that can easily calm your heart.
