Riding Laos High-Speed Train 9/10: Full Kayaking in Vang Vieng, Uncut Like Traveling Yourself

Hello, I am mr.hotsia. Today, I will take everyone to experience a special journey riding Laos' high-speed train along with the exciting activity of kayaking in Vang Vieng, a popular destination everyone talks about. But I will tell you the story uncut and unedited, just like we are traveling together.

First, I must say traveling in Laos has become much more convenient recently, especially the route from Vientiane to Vang Vieng, which now has a high-speed train service. I tried it on this trip. My first impression was the newness and modernity of the train running through Laos' beautiful landscapes. It takes about 3 hours from Vientiane to Vang Vieng, noticeably faster than vans or regular buses.

Upon arriving in Vang Vieng, my main intention was kayaking on the Nam Song River, which has clear, cool water flowing through stunning limestone mountain scenery. The atmosphere here is truly unique. The water is not very deep, making it safe and fun to paddle fully. I chose a route not too far so I could enjoy the views and relax at calm spots.

This kayaking activity suits everyone, whether beginners or pros, because the popular route passes breathtaking natural viewpoints, small caves to explore, and slow-flowing water sections where you can stop to take photos. I spent nearly half a day kayaking, fully experiencing Vang Vieng's comfort and tranquility.

After the water activity, I walked around Vang Vieng town. Besides being a nature tourism spot, this town also has a lovely and warm Lao lifestyle. I strolled through small markets, tasted local food at affordable prices, and chatted with locals, which made me feel like I truly understood the Lao way of life.

For those who want a complete trip before or after Vang Vieng, I recommend stopping by Vientiane, the capital of Laos with its own unique charm.Traveling VientianeVientiane is perfect for relaxing, walking along the beautiful Mekong River in the evening. The sunset here is a sight I was very impressed with. The newly renovated riverside road has become a popular spot for locals and tourists to exercise and stroll. Additionally, there isVientiane Night Marketselling local goods and delicious food.

Let me share a bit about the food in Vang Vieng, another charm not to be missed. When hungry after kayaking, I usually choose simple local dishes like Lao larb, Lao papaya salad, and hot sticky rice, which you can buy from street vendors. If you prefer a more comfortable sit-down place, there are many restaurants with good service and tasty food at reasonable prices, perfect for budget travelers like me.

Speaking of Vientiane and Vang Vieng, I can't skip mentioning coffee shops. Since I enjoy sipping coffee chill, on this trip I stopped byTrue Coffee Vientianea popular coffee shop in this city. It has a great atmosphere with both air-conditioned and outdoor seating. While sipping coffee, I felt like watching the daily life of people passing by, capturing the simple authentic Lao vibe.

If you like to try Lao-style breakfast, I recommend tastingKhao Piak Vientianewhich has a mild flavor with pork offal, minced pork, and green onions, served with fresh bean sprouts. It makes your breakfast lively and delicious in a simple way. There are also other breakfast places ready to welcome tourists.

For travel, if you start from Vientiane, I suggest trying the high-speed train I mentioned. Or if you want to experience the local atmosphere, vans or buses are still good options. The advantage of the train is speed and comfort. Also, if you have more time, don't forget to visit beautiful temples likeWat Si Saketin Vientiane. This temple is very beautiful and has fascinating history.

On this trip, I, mr.hotsia, experienced everything fully—from traveling by high-speed train, kayaking on the Nam Song River in Vang Vieng, walking the markets, to tasting genuine local food. This is not edited or embellished footage. I intend to capture every feeling and atmosphere freshly to share with everyone, as if you are traveling with me.
