VIENTIANE WALKING STREET and NIGHT MARKET: Evening stroll in Vientiane with mr.hotsia

When talking aboutVientianethe capital city of Laos that many often overlook as a main tourist destination. But for me, mr.hotsia, this is a city with a simple and warm charm that you won’t find in the big, hectic cities. One of the most impressive experiences I had was walking atVIENTIANE WALKING STREET and NIGHT MARKETthe Mekong Riverside Night Market. This is not just an ordinary market, but a place where the lives of Laotians and tourists come together perfectly.

After a day visiting famous temples likeWat Si Saketor stopping for a cold coffee atTrue Coffee Vientianewhich is my favorite resting spot because the air conditioning is cool and there is comfortable Wifi. I usually spend my afternoon here to cool down before heading out for an evening walk along the Mekong River.

The Vientiane Walking Street area becomes lively in the evening, around 5 PM onwards. The street is closed to cars, allowing pedestrians to explore local products and various local foods. Vendors set up their stalls neatly, offering snacks, souvenirs, and handcrafted Laotian products made with great care.

For me, walking along the Mekong River at this time is very enjoyable because the weather is not too hot, and you can see the sun setting as a large, bright red ball reflecting on the Mekong River, creating a beautiful and unforgettable scene.

This walking market in Vientiane doesn’t just have ordinary food. I tried rare local dishes like Laotian rice porridge orKhao Piakwhich anyone visiting Vientiane should try at least once because its taste is distinctly different from our usual rice porridge. I also enjoyed strong, aromatic Laotian coffee that helped recharge me after a day of sightseeing.

Besides food, the market offers a variety of souvenirs that I like to browse, such as beautifully patterned handwoven fabrics, silverware, and home decorations that reflect Laotian culture well. Walking around and chatting with the vendors made me feel like I was truly experiencing the real lifestyle of Laotians. It’s not just about buying and selling but a warm and sincere cultural exchange.

I, mr.hotsia, recommend you try walking here in the evening, especially if you have already exploredVientianeduring the day and want to change the atmosphere by strolling along the Mekong River with cool breezes and lights shining against the dark sky. This will let you experience a peaceful and beautiful side of the city.

Getting to Vientiane Walking Street is very easy. I usually rent a bicycle from the Fountain Roundabout area, which is near accommodations like Pomprasert Hotel that I often recommend because it’s convenient and very affordable. You can cycle along charming small streets or walk as it’s not far. Along the way, you can visit important nearby places such asHaw Phra Kaewor various temples located close by.

At night, Vientiane is quieter than expected, unlike busy and noisy tourist cities. But this walking street is a place that makes me feel warm and relaxed, like experiencing the city in a small corner full of genuine kindness from locals and tourists sharing happiness together.

If you have more time, I recommend visiting the morning market atVientiane Morning Marketin the morning to experience a completely different atmosphere, then come back to stroll at the night market in the evening to see daily life in Vientiane from various perspectives.

Finally, I, mr.hotsia, want to say that walking hereVIENTIANE WALKING STREET and NIGHT MARKETis one of my best memories from visiting Vientiane. I believe if you come and walk here yourself, you will feel the warmth and beauty embedded in the lifestyle of Laotians truly.

For anyone planning a trip to Laos, don’t forget to stop by and walk here. I guarantee you will fall in love with this small riverside city as much as I have.
