mr.hotsia recommends hotels in downtown Pakse. Unitel had a booth at Don Khong. They are setting up 3G for my notebook in Pakse with excellent service. Just buy a SIM for 120 baht and use it all over Laos. This number is useful while in Laos. If you stay several days, this is much more cost-effective. I bought mine from Thailand. It works with GPS and almost everywhere in Laos. Unitel lives a bright life, opening the number for us. The Lao phone company staff, this big brother, is skilled and set it up perfectly.
