From Pakse, I traveled to Pak Song after a tiring day visiting Sekatam Waterfall. Pak Song was very cold, really cold, so cold it numbed me. I thought of warming by a fire at a BBQ restaurant, so I went to eat at a place near my accommodation, Simali Guesthouse. This Jin Dad restaurant sells sets for 30,000 kip or 120 baht. In Thailand, this price would get me a buffet where I could eat a kilo of meat, but food in Laos is expensive. Even in Pak Song, where the cost of living is low, prices are still high. For this price, you get meat, dough, milk, and liver as shown in the picture.
The grill here is warm as expected and just what I wanted. Judging by the food, I wasn’t full, so I ordered stir-fried basil rice with a fried egg plus one bottle of Lao beer. Now I was full. Actually, in Pakse, there is a buffet-style BBQ restaurant for over 200 baht per person. If you want to try Lao BBQ, you can try that place. Mr.hotsia recommends a hotel in Pak Song.
