The route is the same as the one I took to Phongsaly (Travel from Udomxai to Phongsaly), but Muang Khua branches right for 30 kilometers. Phongsaly requires a left turn and several more hours. The bus to Muang Khua is comfortable, not crowded, and the distance is not too far, making the atmosphere pleasant. The views on both sides are beautiful with forests and mountains. Muang Khua now has a separate bus station outside the town, about 3 kilometers from the center. You can take a small songthaew into town for a small fee. Mr.hotsia recommends hotels in Muang Khai and downtown Udomxai.
