Colors of Mandalay Mandalay 2016: Travel journal of mr.hotsia

Mandalay, the cultural capital of Myanmar, where I, mr.hotsia, had the chance to visit in 2016. The first impression was the lively life of the people mixed with the scent of history and the simplicity of local life. The golden pagoda of Mahamuni and the U Bein Bridge, the longest teak bridge in the world, make Mandalay not just an ordinary tourist city but a place full of stories and vibrant colors to explore.

I started in Mandalay city, which amazingly preserves the old town's identity. Every morning I chose to stroll through the fresh markets, seeing vendors selling fresh vegetables, fruits, and many interesting local foods. The most impressive was tastingAmarapura local cuisinenear Mandalay, such as hot Burmese noodles similar to our Khao Soi but with a unique local flavor. I remember the place I ate served it with fresh vegetables and full side dishes, making my breakfast a special start to the day.

After that, I traveled about 70 kilometers to Pyin Oo Lwin, a city I liked very much for its different atmosphere. It perfectly blends British colonial culture and is full of beautiful flower gardens that I recommended in my article.Horse carriage tour in Pyin Oo Lwin city and Pyin Oo Lwin public parkRiding a horse carriage around the city and flower gardens was a very memorable experience. The carriage had a roof and doors that could open and close, making the city tour comfortable and allowing close contact with local life.

There are many accommodation options in Pyin Oo Lwin, but I recommend the hotel where I stayed,Bravo Hotellocated in the city center near the clock tower, a convenient spot for travel and shopping. The hotel owner speaks good English, offers affordable laundry service, and serves breakfast on the rooftop with a 260-degree city view. I often chose to sit there drinking coffee in the morning, watching the city slowly wake up.

Back in Mandalay, I did not miss visitingU Bein’s Bridgein Amarapura, the longest teakwood bridge in the world. The sunset atmosphere here was breathtaking, making me want to stop time. The sight of locals and schoolchildren passing by with laughter and warm conversations made me feel truly part of this community.

During my visit, I was honored by a motorbike driver who took me around the village near the bridge and treated me to Burmese noodles for breakfast as I mentioned earlier. This impression made me understand that traveling with mr.hotsia is not just about taking beautiful photos but truly experiencing the real life of the people here.

Regarding food, if you like trying new things, I recommend exploring markets and local eateries inMeiktila citynot far from Mandalay. There, I tasted street food at affordable prices, under 30 Thai Baht, but with extraordinary flavors. The local coffee shop Champion Coffee, where I am writing this article, offers fresh coffee at reasonable prices and local Chinese food with perfectly blended flavors. I liked ordering sweet and sour stir-fry at a main street roadside stall, so delicious I had to recommend it.

For travelers planning to go from Mandalay to Bagan (Pagan), I suggest booking a bus through a local tour company like OK, which I used myself at an affordable price of about 300 Baht per person. The trip takes about 5 hours including a meal break. The bus picks up from hotels in Mandalay such as Fortune Hotel, making it convenient and time-saving.Read detailed travel information from Mandalay to Baganto plan your trip thoroughly

In the evenings, I often strolled through markets and walking streets in Mandalay to capture unique life and atmosphere. The market sells fresh vegetables, seasonal fruits, and local souvenirs like handwoven fabrics and jewelry rich in authentic Burmese art. There are also massage and spa services in Pyin Oo Lwin, which I have recommended in my article.Spa and massage in Pyin Oo Lwinfor those who want to relax after a full day of sightseeing

The colors of Mandalay are not only in temples or famous tourist spots but also in the daily life of the people here, who remain simple and warm. The sincerity of the Burmese people made me, mr.hotsia, feel like coming home. Whenever I think of Mandalay, I recall images of children playing by the roadside with their families, people chatting under big trees, and smiles warmly welcoming travelers.

For anyone seeking a travel experience that is not just about seeing but truly feeling and understanding the lives of the people, I recommend visiting Mandalay through the eyes of mr.hotsia. I guarantee you will return with deep and unforgettable memories.
