welcome to MANDALAY 2015 Mandalay 2015
Hello, I am mr.hotsia, inviting friends to experience the charm of Mandalay, the second largest city in Myanmar, full of history, lifestyle, and culture that remain impressively authentic. Mandalay in 2015 is still a favorite destination of mine because every visit brings new stories that feel like traveling back in time to ancient Myanmar.
Mandalay is not just an ordinary tourist city; it is full of vibrant life. People here still live simply and warmly. I walked along the streets, saw schoolchildren in clean white uniforms going to school, locals selling goods by the roadside, and the fresh markets bustling with fresh vegetables, fruits, and local foods available at friendly prices.
Speaking of food in Mandalay, I recommend trying the cuisine of Amarapura, which is not far from Mandalay. Here you can find delicious and unique local dishes, such as Burmese-style noodles I had for breakfast with local brewed coffee. The rich taste and homely feeling are described in my article.Amarapura Cuisine, Mandalaywhich will help friends see more clearly what life here is like.
But if anyone wants to escape the hustle and bustle of Mandalay city, I recommend visiting Pyin Oo Lwin, also in Mandalay Region. The weather is cool, there are beautiful flower gardens, and an activity I really enjoyed wasriding a horse carriage around Pyin Oo Lwincity while visiting the Kandawgyi National Botanical Gardens located in Pyin Oo Lwin. It lets you experience the old colonial atmosphere of the British era. The horse carriages here are special, with roofs, doors that open and close, comfortable and very safe. I highly recommend this if you visit this town.
I stayed at Bravo Hotel in Pyin Oo Lwin, located in the city center near the clock tower. This hotel not only offers affordable rates around 1,000 baht per night but also features breakfast with a 260-degree city view from the top floor. Additionally, the owner speaks good English and offers cheap laundry services. It is accommodation I trust and want to recommend to friends.Recommended Hotels in Pyin Oo LwinGood quality and reasonable prices
Back in Mandalay, I suggest exploring the local markets here. The fresh markets in Mandalay are full of fresh produce and interesting foods, especially street food that is cheap and delicious, such as Burmese curry rice, sweet and sour stir-fry, or Burmese-style roast duck that I tried and found as tasty as anywhere else. For detailed information about food in Mandalay, I wrote inMandalay Food and Cuisinewhich will help friends get to know the authentic flavors of this city better.
Traveling in Mandalay is very convenient. I usually use hired cars, or if you want to take a trip outside the city, such as to Bagan, an ancient city and famous tourist spot, traveling from Mandalay to Bagan is easy and inexpensive. I once took a tourist-only bus by OK company, which took about 5 hours including meal breaks. The fare was about 300 baht per person. If you have less time, you can also choose to fly. For more details about this trip, I wrote in the articleTraveling from Mandalay to Bagan (Pagan)which is very useful for tourists planning to continue their trip after Mandalay.
During my stay in Mandalay, I experienced the true lifestyle and activities of Burmese people, such as riding traditional horse carriages, walking in fresh markets, and tasting local food at small shops without English menus but full of authentic Burmese flavors. These are things I, mr.hotsia, value because they make my journey lively and uniquely memorable.
If you want to experience the atmosphere of Mandalay in 2015, I recommend preparing for a journey full of impressions, including ancient temples, bustling fresh markets, and unique delicious local food, along with discovering small towns in Mandalay Region like Pyin Oo Lwin, which will make you fall in love with the simplicity and natural beauty.
