Pathein Umbrella Village Mr.Hotsia recommends hotels (Ngwesaung) Pathein (Pathein) Ayeyarwady (Ayeyarwady) March 2016 I traveled from Pathein city (Pathein) by air-conditioned van to Ngwesaung Beach (Ngwesaung). The journey took 2 hours covering 40 kilometers. The van left Pathein at 08:00 and arrived at the beach at 10:00. The fare was 3,500 kyats per person, approximately 120 baht. Upon arrival, I stayed at Luxer Deluxe hotel, priced at 35 USD per night, negotiated down to 30 USD.

The next morning, I rented a motorcycle to tour around the small town and along the beach to distant villages. The rental cost was 10,000 kyats per day. Although Ngwesaung Beach (Ngwesaung) is long, the town area with shops and locals is narrow and stretches about 300 meters. The remaining beach extends another 40 kilometers. I rode only halfway. There are expensive beachfront hotels, and on the left side, there is an occasional restaurant. I saw Burmese cars parked at these accommodations. Most foreign tourists prefer to stay in town for easier access to food.

In the evening, I relaxed by the sea drinking coconut water, watching Burmese people swim in the sea. I ordered Burmese-style stir-fried crab. Someone sold sea urchins for 1,000 kyats each; I ate three. I then had my second bout of diarrhea. I only ate with lime juice. For dinner, I had giant oysters and fried rice. In 2016, I arranged to visit the lifestyle of a Burmese girl, watched her cook, joined the locals for a meal, and shared the experience in a YouTube clip titled 'The Charm of Burmese Girl's Cooking at the Bay of Bengal.'

I was impressed by my trip to Ngwesaung Beach because it is a popular beach for Burmese tourists and also attracts foreign visitors. The town is changing. Along the beach, there are accommodations. Since the beach is 30-40 kilometers long, staying at beachfront hotels is convenient if you have a private car. Most visitors from Yangon come to stay here. Backpackers usually stay in town where buses stop.

Finding accommodation nearby is convenient for beach activities, market visits, dining, and strolling anytime.
