Mr.Hotsia recommends hotels in Ngwesaung, Pathein, Ayeyarwady Region. Ngwesaung Beach is a sandy beach and accommodation area 48 kilometers from Pathein, located in the Ayeyarwady Region of Myanmar. Traveling by car from Yangon takes about 5 hours. The town also has an airport that opened in 2000. Ngwesaung Beach is one of Myanmar's important tourist destinations and a popular getaway for Yangon residents due to its convenient distance.
Ngwesaung Beach is a silver sandy beach with a coastal sea gypsy village that increasingly earns income from tourism. I traveled from Pathein city by air-conditioned van to Ngwesaung Beach, taking 2 hours over 40 kilometers. The van left Pathein at 8:00 AM and arrived at the beach at 10:00 AM. The fare was 3,500 kyats per person, about 120 baht. Upon arrival, I stayed at the Luxer Deluxe hotel, priced at 35 USD per night, negotiated down to 30 USD.
The next morning, I rented a motorcycle to tour the small town and explore the beach and distant villages. The rental cost was 10,000 kyats per day. Although Ngwesaung Beach is long, the town area where shops and locals are is only about 300 meters long. The rest of the beach stretches another 40 kilometers. I rode only halfway. There are expensive beachfront hotels, and on the left side, there is a rare restaurant. I saw Burmese cars parked at these accommodations. Most foreign tourists prefer to stay in town for easier access to food.
In the evening, I sat by the sea drinking coconut water, watching Burmese people swim. I ordered Burmese-style stir-fried crab. Someone sold sea urchins for 1,000 kyats each; I ate three. I had a second bout of stomach upset, so I only ate them with lime. For dinner, I had giant oysters and fried rice. In 2016, I arranged to visit the life of a Burmese girl, watched her cook, joined the meal with locals, and shared the experience in a YouTube clip titled 'The Charm of Burmese Cooking by a Burmese Girl at the Bay of Bengal.'
I was very impressed with my trip to Ngwesaung Beach.
