The price was about 1,000 baht per night, but these are more suitable for travelers driving themselves in Hpa-An.
Within the city, hotels are scattered but not many. Hpa-An still has much room to grow because everyone passes through this city. Soe Brothers Guesthouse is a row house divided into small rooms with windows and shared bathrooms. The price is 180 baht per night. It is next to the market and within easy walking distance to the Salween River. Staying at guesthouses is not only cheap but the owners also pay attention to travel information, offering advice on trips and traveling to other cities.
I did not stay in a hotel in Hpa-An, but there are many hotels with standard prices cheaper than those in Yangon. Hpa-An is the capital city of Kayin State and home to the Kayin people. When Thai tourists visit, our appearance is similar to Burmese, and some locals might think we are Burmese. We live in Hpa-An without anyone paying much attention to us as tourists, which is one charm of traveling in this city. Note that in some places in Myanmar, they will take a copy of your passport when you check in.
