According to the oral traditions passed down by the elders of that time, there was a family of stable status, a respected wealthy household, the family of Khun Saman Chinpracha (originally named Jai). After Khun Saman Chinpracha passed away, his two wives, Nang Tim Suebsaman and Nang Phong Suebsaman (Permnakorn), along with Nang Yee Soon Wiriyapanich (his sister, who later built a prang in front of the ordination hall, which can still be seen today),
were devoted and decided to build a temple to dedicate merit to their late husband. Records show that in 1879 (B.E. 2422), during the reign of King Chulalongkorn (Rama V), the King traveled by waterway and stopped to visit the temple. A local villager named Mr. Wa Phonsuwan presented a white wreathed bird as an offering at this temple. After the temple was completed, it was named Wat Mai Khun Saman Permnakorn, a public temple.
At that time, the temple was governed by the Mahanikaya sect of monks, but not for long. The temple founders later offered the temple to the Dhammayut sect, with Phra Kru Siripanyamuni (On Thewanipo) as the head monk receiving the offering. Locals commonly refer to this temple as Wat Mai Khun Saman to this day. Let's visit the Great Rahu Buddha Temple.
