Chiang Khan Fresh Market Pork Fish
Pork Fish at Chiang Khan Fresh Market http://www.hotsia.com > Chiang Khan > Pork Fish at Chiang Khan Fresh Market Normally, I enjoy walking through markets when I travel. When I came to Chiang Khan on a regular morning, Mr.Hotsia planned to find stuffed fried dough sticks and spicy rice noodles to eat, so I walked around the market a bit. I happened to glance and saw this pork fish, which looks quite unusual. It's called pork fish because it has tusks like a pig. The tusks are hard too; I picked it up and they seem as hard as catfish.

But catfish have spines under their chins, while pork fish have tusks on the upper jaw, positioned like wild boar tusks. That's why it's called pork fish. I've heard this species is very rare in Thailand, but it's still available at Chiang Khan Fresh Market. Anyone visiting Chiang Khan can come and see.
