In Ban Pong town, I consider it one of the capitals of delicious food. There are many food options along the streets. Traditional Chinese-style food is still sold today. Hainanese chicken rice, noodles, and Ban Pong Chinese-style dishes are all delicious. I don't want people to overlook Ban Pong or just drive through. I want them to stop and enjoy the tasty food here. The Mae Klong River flows through Ban Pong town, with a riverside shrine and the Ban Pong morning market nearby. I wake up early to walk through the Ban Pong market.
It's an activity I never miss in any city, whether in Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, or Vietnam—walking through the markets. Ban Pong market has plenty of seafood and food. On the day I visited, it rained a bit, so I couldn't take many photos. The Mae Klong River flows south after passing Ban Pong. Not far away, there is a traditional Thai-style riverside homestay called Khum Thanthima, owned by P' Nok Supharerk, an AirAsia pilot. I stayed there, and the atmosphere was wonderful by the water. The house is an old Thai-style wooden house with antiques.
It's incredible that someone thought to preserve a truly old house right by the river in such an ancient style. If you want to stay close to nature by the river, the Thai-style house in the Mon village, Khum Thanthima, is the place to choose. Contact Khun Pee at 081-6992515. When I stayed, I stayed at Kasemsuk Hotel in Ban Pong for just a few hundred baht per night. It had air conditioning, hot water, fast wifi, and was located in the town center. This is the only hotel I saw, next to Ban Pong Hospital, making it easy to find food nearby.
If you stay at a hotel outside the city, like Thai Nam, it's good and affordable, suitable for those with a car because walking to find food in town is a bit far, about 1 kilometer. What impressed me most about Ban Pong is the abundance of food. I want to stay several days to try all the recommended restaurants. Next time, I will come back to eat again and again in Ban Pong.
