Not far away, there is a Thai-style riverside homestay called Khum Thanthima, owned by P' Nok Supharerk, an AirAsia pilot. I have stayed there; the atmosphere is wonderful, right by the water. The old Thai-style wooden house with antiques is incredible—it's hard to believe someone actually restored an authentic old house by the river in such a traditional way. The upper floor has a bedroom and an antique living room, both rooms. The ground floor has another bedroom, a kitchen, and a dining table fully equipped. The other house is a two-story Thai house with the upper floor open for guests, featuring a porch, bedroom, and living area. Besides the two houses, there is a raft with two rooms, each with a private bathroom separate from the bedroom. Each raft room can accommodate 3-4 people. The price is per house and quite affordable; please call the number above to inquire. The atmosphere here is great, with plenty of fish in the water and river prawns you can catch under the raft.
This river bend is rarely fished by others. I recommend bringing your own fishing gear for a lot of fun—fishing rods, nets, and traps. Try it out. If I were to design a trip, it would be from Bangkok, traveling leisurely, finding lunch in Ban Pong, then checking into the homestay to prepare your own barbecue meal. All equipment is provided. You can fish, relax at night, and enjoy the peaceful nature by the Mae Klong River. After handling your personal matters, visit Wat Khanon and Photharam.
