Famous for foolfish catching, I had plans to travel with Anne for a few days in Ayutthaya, Kanchanaburi, and Sangkhlaburi, then ended with a foolfish catching competition in Bang Bo. I bought 30 loops of foolfish from Bang Li Market, two brothers, for 800 baht. I just bought them and set the traps in front of Mr.Hotsia's house. The competition used two boats: mine with Tid Kae to catch, and Anne took the other boat. We set the traps overnight and checked the catch the next morning with Tid Roeng as the judge.
The winner was decided by the total value of fish caught in the foolfish traps. Anne ended up winning. It was very fun, and we plan to compete again in Chiang Khong. At my home in Bang Bo, foolfish traps are popular for catching shrimp in shrimp ponds raised together with fish. The foolfish trap is used to catch shrimp. Foolfish traps have been around for a long time in Suphanburi, and Tid Kae told me about them. The technique requires part of the trap to be above water so the fish don't die.
