Order as much as you want: Popular Larb 25 Baht @Chiang Mai

When talking about Chiang Mai from the perspective of a traveler like mr.hotsia, I can almost say with certainty that affordable and tasty food is essential. One of the standout dishes I discovered and must share is “Larb,” a delicious dish at a very reasonable price at a larb shop in Chiang Mai, which I happened upon during my latest trip.

The charm of this shop is not only the larb’s bold and authentic herbal flavor but also that you can order “as much as you want” for just 25 baht per plate! Yes, you heard right—25 baht! I was quite surprised myself how this is possible nowadays. Usually, larb in Chiang Mai sells for around 30-40 baht or more, but this place intentionally offers customers generous portions and great taste at an unbeatable value.

The special thing about the larb here is not just the price but the distinctive Northern style flavor. The fragrant roasted rice powder, crispy fried garlic sprinkled on top, and the sharp tang of freshly squeezed lime juice make every bite full of diverse and memorable flavors. I, mr.hotsia, ended up eating several plates, losing track of time.

This shop is located in downtown Chiang Mai, not far from the community areas and old markets I have written about in previous articles.Jaeng Muang ShopAt Mae Chaem, if anyone visits and wants to try authentic Northern food, they will experience the atmosphere and food culture that perfectly connects with Chiang Mai.

I remember on a previous trip returning from Mae Chaem to Chiang Mai, I stopped to visitWat Saen Thong Omkoiwhich was very impressive. This temple houses the Golden Buddha called Phra Chao Saen Thong, highly revered by locals. It’s another cultural spot in Chiang Mai that travelers interested in culture should not miss. Returning to the city, I didn’t miss the chance to find delicious larb at such an affordable price.

Getting to this shop is easy as it’s located in a convenient area. Anyone who enjoys tasting food at local markets or walking through Chiang Mai’s night markets will find this larb shop easily. Another thing I liked was the simple yet very friendly atmosphere. Meeting the shop owner, a smiling auntie who warmly welcomed me with true Northern hospitality, made me feel like eating at a friend’s home.

For those who have never tried authentic Northern larb, you might wonder why this larb shop is special. Northern larb differs from the more familiar Isan larb. Northern larb uses finely chopped pork or beef, seasoned with unique spices and herbs such as roasted rice powder, coriander, shredded kaffir lime leaves, and fresh lime juice. The flavor is spicy and rich but not as sour as Isan larb. Sometimes, finely chopped pork offal is added for extra depth.

I, mr.hotsia, have written many times about traveling and tasting food in Chiang Mai, and discovering this 25-baht larb shop was a very impressive experience. Nowadays, it’s quite rare to find a place offering this price without compromising quality.

Besides larb, the shop also offers other Northern dishes to try, such as Hang Lay curry, Nam Prik Noom (young chili dip), and sticky rice. If you want to experience the full Northern flavor, this shop is definitely a must-visit.

For those interested in seeing the atmosphere and the full larb-making process, I recommend watching the mr.hotsia YouTube clip titled “Order as much as you want: Popular Larb 25 Baht @Chiang Mai,” where I share my direct experience at this shop clearly.Click here to watch the clip

In summary, if you come to Chiang Mai and want to experience authentic Northern food at an affordable price, this larb shop is the true answer to great value. I, mr.hotsia, want everyone to try it and enjoy the atmosphere that fills both your stomach and heart.
