Chiang Mai, a city of beauty that mr.hotsia must share
Chiang Mai is one of the travel destinations I, mr.hotsia, love the most in Thailand. With its perfect blend of natural diversity and culture, whether you have a short or long free time, Chiang Mai remains a must-visit destination at least once in your lifetime.
When talking about Chiang Mai, many people probably picture classic scenes likeWat Phra That Doi Suthepstanding tall on a high mountain, offering panoramic views of Chiang Mai city, or the zoo featuringpandasas the star attraction, and the popular tourist spotQueen Sirikit Botanic Gardenshowcasing a stunning variety of plants. But for me, mr.hotsia, I believe Chiang Mai has more than just these. There are many corners waiting for us to truly discover and experience.
Recommended Accommodation in Chiang Mai
Before exploring Chiang Mai, equally important is accommodation. I recommend staying in theNimmanhaemin Roadarea because it is the most popular zone among locals and tourists. The atmosphere is lively with plenty of restaurants, cafes, and entertainment venues. Just a few steps from your accommodation, you can find places to eat and nightlife spots like Monkey Warm Up. Also, traveling to various attractions around the city is convenient without worrying about traffic or parking.
For those who don’t want to waste time looking for hotels by walk-in, I suggest booking in advance through websites, which helps get better prices and guarantees accommodation. Click to seeAccommodation in Chiang Mairecommended by mr.hotsia.
Mae Rim-Samoeng Route: An Everlasting Charm
The Mae Rim and Samoeng route is another favorite among foreign tourists. I, mr.hotsia, have traveled this route many times and found that besides the beautiful and still abundant nature, there are attractions created by local villagers such as snake shows, jungle trekking, or the challenging local experience called “Elephant Dung” which is unique. Although not classic tourist spots, they impress travelers who enjoy something new.
New Attractions and Routes in Chiang Mai Province
For me, mr.hotsia, I believe Chiang Mai still has many places worth exploring, such as districts likeOmkoiwhere I visited Wat Saen Thong and the golden Buddha statue Phra Chao Saen Thong with a long history, orDoi Tao Lakewhich, despite its water level dropping significantly, still holds its own charm. Also, Ob Luang where I walked on the bridge crossing the Mae Chaem River inOb Luangis another spot not to be missed.
Another recommendation is the route winding through villages along the Ping River. Here you will see the lifestyle of traditional hunters living harmoniously with nature. Not far from Chiang Mai city, it’s an experience hard to find elsewhere. There is also a local restaurant calledJang Muang Restaurantin Mae Chaem, which I often use as a stop to enjoy Khao Soi and coffee before continuing my journey.
Transportation and Chiang Mai Bus Stations
Many may not know that Chiang Mai now has two new Arcade Bus Stations built next to the old one. The design is excellent with clean restrooms and ample seating, making travel much more comfortable. There are also buses to Luang Prabang via Chiang Khong, Huai Sai, and Bo Keaw, offering an interesting international travel option for adventurous tourists.
Flavors and Markets of Chiang Mai
When it comes to Chiang Mai, food is equally important to me, mr.hotsia. The markets and restaurants in Chiang Mai city are full of delicious dishes including authentic Northern Thai food like Khao Soi, Nam Prik Noom, and Nam Ngiao. There are also popular Korean BBQ buffet restaurants among tourists, which I have tried and reviewed inKorean BBQ Buffet in Chiang Mai videoand the Hia S. Roasted Duck restaurant at Kad Muang Mai, where I enjoy simple but flavorful roasted duck noodles in true Chiang Mai style.Hia S. Roasted Duck videoFinally, for those wanting to avoid dust or crowds, I recommend ordering food through Grab Food as I suggested in the videoOrder Crepes and Eat with Stir-Fried Holy Basil with Porkwhich is convenient and lets you enjoy intensely flavorful food.
Chiang Mai Never Runs Out of Stories
For me, mr.hotsia, Chiang Mai is a city where every visit reveals something new to discover, whether it’s traveling to remote districts like Mae Chaem or Omkoi, visiting the riverside village lifestyles along the Ping River, or just chilling in downtown Chiang Mai on Nimmanhaemin Road. Clearly, Chiang Mai has diverse and profound charms beyond what many think.
If you are planning a trip to Chiang Mai, I recommend opening your mind beyond the usual routes and follow me, mr.hotsia, to discover new sides of Chiang Mai that I have collected to share. I guarantee this journey will be filled with great memories and beautiful sights worth the trip.
