hotsia kids School Holiday Trip 24/26: Swimming Practice and Visiting Sala Kaew Ku, Nong Khai

Hello, I'm mr.hotsia. Today, I will take friends to share my school holiday travel experience with kids in Nong Khai, a border town with many charming dimensions including nature, culture, and a fascinating way of life. For this trip, my family and I chose to open the world for the kids to seriously practice swimming, along with visiting a highlight tourist attraction that anyone visiting Nong Khai must not miss, which is “Sala Kaew Ku,” also known as the “Hindu Temple.”

Starting with Swimming Practice

Before heading out to explore various places in Nong Khai city, I intended to bring the kids to practice swimming at a public pool in the city center. This activity is not only for fun but also an important life skill learning experience. I noticed that the pool here is clean and well supervised by staff. The kids practiced basic swimming strokes and enjoyed cooling off during the school break. It was an exercise that combined fun and safety.

This swimming practice with the kids reminded me of the simple lifestyle of the people in Nong Khai. Although it is not a big city, it offers good facilities and is truly family-friendly.

Sala Kaew Ku: A Marvel of Art and Dharma

After swimming to our heart’s content, we continued to Sala Kaew Ku, located not far from Wat Pho Chai, well known as the home of Luang Pho Phra Sai, the revered Buddha image and symbol of Nong Khai. This is a travel route I often recommend to friends visiting Nong Khai to experience.Traveling Nong KhaiYou will get a complete overview of this city.

Sala Kaew Ku, or the Hindu Temple, was built by Grandfather Boonlue, a Laotian man who migrated across the Mekong River into Thailand. Sala Kaew Ku stands out with art that blends Buddhist and Hindu styles. The art here is not only beautiful but also imbued with profound Dharma philosophy in every corner. I walked around attentively, observing statues that embody the meanings of life, birth, aging, sickness, and death, expressed through sculptures and artworks.

The atmosphere at Sala Kaew Ku reminded me ofthe story of Sala Kaew Ku, the Hindu Templethat I have written about before. Visiting here is not just sightseeing but a spiritual journey I want everyone to experience themselves.

Lifestyle and Local Food in Nong Khai

When visiting Nong Khai, I usually recommend trying the local food, especially “Nam Neaung,” a famous dish of this province. My favorite restaurant is “Daeng Nam Neung,” which is so popular it can be considered nationally renowned.Daeng Nam NeungLocated by the Mekong River, it offers a great atmosphere and fresh, clean food. Besides the delicious taste, I also appreciate their meticulous attention to cleanliness in washing vegetables and preparing food, making it safe and comfortable to eat.

Eating Nam Neaung here is another experience that completes our Nong Khai trip perfectly.

Impressions from the Trip to Nong Khai

Bringing the kids to practice swimming and visit Sala Kaew Ku this time gave me a new perspective on Nong Khai that many might not have known before. Beyond the beauty of tourist attractions and diverse culture, Nong Khai is a city full of warm-hearted people, a simple lifestyle, and close ties with neighboring Laos.

If anyone has time, I recommend driving around the city routes such as from Wat Pho Chai, Sala Kaew Ku, to the central water stupa and Tha Sadet Pier, which are suggested routes for those who want to fully experience Nong Khai’s atmosphere. Additionally, there is Sangkhom District, which I have written about before.Traveling Sangkhom DistrictIt is another interesting destination for those who love nature and tranquility.

Summary and Invitation

For this trip with the kids during the school holiday in Nong Khai, both swimming practice and visiting Sala Kaew Ku were impressive and valuable experiences. I encourage every family to plan to bring their children to learn new skills while opening their cultural and natural horizons in this province.
