Travel Mui Ne by Yourself with real experiences from mr.hotsia

When talking about Mui Ne in Bình Thuận Province, Vietnam, this name is not just an ordinary destination but a land that I, mr.hotsia, must say you should experience yourself at least once. It has everything from unique deserts, the coastal fishing lifestyle, to fresh seafood that melts your heart. I traveled from Ho Chi Minh City by bus with The Sinh Tourist company, which is the most convenient and economical way. The bus ride from Ho Chi Minh to Mui Ne takes about 4-5 hours, covering approximately 200 kilometers. I bought the ticket at the office in the Pham Ngu Lao area. The fare was cheap, just over 200 Thai Baht.

Upon arriving in Mui Ne, the first thing I did was find accommodation. I chose to stay at Thanh Duy Hotel, which I booked through Agoda beforehand. However, after exploring the area, I found that walk-in prices were considerably cheaper. There are budget hotels around here costing 300-400 Baht per night, near the Phong Trang parking lot, which is the bus stop for The Sinh Tourist. I recommend booking accommodation in advance if you arrive late to avoid the hassle of searching in the dark.

Mui Ne Desert: A Must-Visit Destination

Mui Ne is famous for its real deserts in Vietnam, divided into two main zones: the Red Sand Dunes and the White Sand Dunes. Each is about 17 kilometers and 25 kilometers from Mui Ne town respectively. Besides being beautiful photo spots, the deserts give a feeling like being in a mini Sahara of Vietnam. For visiting the Mui Ne desert, I recommend buying a tour from The Sinh Tourist for only 7 USD or about 210 Baht. The tour lasts about 4 hours. The one I joined was in the afternoon starting at 2:30 PM, when the sunlight makes photos stunning. You also get to watch the sunset at the Red Sand Dunes, which is the highlight of the trip. The tour also takes you to see the Mui Ne fishing village from a high viewpoint, a beautiful view I wish you could see with your own eyes.

If you want more freedom, renting a motorbike or a jeep with a driver is another interesting option. It allows you to stop and explore various spots fully and take photos whenever you want.

Lifestyle and Seafood in Mui Ne

Mui Ne is not just about deserts. The coastal fishing lifestyle remains charming and simple for us to experience. I walked along the beach, saw locals going out fishing, and some digging in the sand for ancient clay pots buried in the beach. It was a very memorable scene.

Speaking of food, I, mr.hotsia, recommend trying the seafood here because it is fresh and tasty. Although prices are higher than at home, it is worth it. For example, lobster is not very expensive compared to Thailand. There is also Russian cuisine available for the many Russian tourists visiting.

I ordered a mixed seafood fried rice meal for about 100 Baht, topped with a fried egg. It was just right for a satisfying meal and gave me an authentic Vietnamese taste. For other meals, I chose simple bread, bananas, and coffee first. (Read more about food atFood in Mui Ne)

Traveling from Mui Ne to Other Places in Bình Thuận Province

After finishing Mui Ne, I recommend stopping by Phan Thiet city, the main city of Bình Thuận Province, about 20 kilometers from Mui Ne. It has a morning market and an interesting city lifestyle. (Read more atTravel Phan Thiet by Yourself)

The hotel I stayed at in Phan Thiet city is Kim Son Lau, located next to the morning market. It is convenient, safe, and clean, suitable for those who want to experience the authentic city atmosphere in this province. (Read details atRecommended Hotels in Phan Thiet)

If you have more time, Mui Ne is also a great starting point for traveling onward to Nha Trang or Dalat by bus or train, or you can fly from Da Nang back to Thailand. It is a complete travel hub for southern Vietnam.
