Nha Trang Food from mr.hotsia's Perspective
Nha Trang, a coastal city in Vietnam known by many as a tourist destination full of beautiful sandy beaches and a relaxed atmosphere. But for me, mr.hotsia, what impresses me as much as the sea is the food here. I experienced it from the viewpoint of a real traveler who didn’t just take photos but also tasted and absorbed the local life.
Upon arriving in Nha Trang, the first thing you notice is the bustling street food stalls and fresh markets. Pho noodle shops and authentic Vietnamese curry rice are reasonably priced, perfect for travelers wanting to try simple local dishes with extraordinary flavors. The fresh seafood market by the sea is another place I didn’t want to miss because Nha Trang is famous for its very fresh seafood, including shrimp, crab, fish, and even sea turtles, which made me wonder if those on display were just for show or actually served as food.
For tourists staying longer in Nha Trang, you’ll notice many restaurants catering to foreign customers, especially a significant number of Russian tourists. Many menus in these restaurants have Russian as the second main language after Vietnamese, and some even have English as a third option. This is something I, mr.hotsia, find to be a unique and interesting characteristic of Nha Trang.
Real Eating Experience in Nha Trang with mr.hotsia
On my first day, I chose a small restaurant in front of my hotel and ordered stir-fried frog and grilled pork to try. Honestly, the taste wasn’t quite to my liking, so I figured I’d wait until the next day. The following morning, I went out looking for a simple breakfast and found Vietnamese coffee served on the street. The rich aroma of black coffee was a great energy booster. Then I bought yogurt and muesli for a simple breakfast to save money but still got a sense of the local lifestyle where people eat unhurriedly.
While walking around the city, I found a wide variety of seafood restaurants. At the markets and beaches, there were many kinds of fish, shrimp, shellfish, and grilled button squid as seen in the video.Vietnamese Grilled Button SquidThis inspired me to order and try it.
If you want to deeply understand the lifestyle and local food of Nha Trang, I recommend visiting the morning market at the entrance of the hotel alley. There is a noodle shop frequented by locals. Although I didn’t try it this time, the atmosphere gave me a genuine feel of the local life in Nha Trang.
Nha Trang Food Connected to Central Vietnam and the Highlands Context
Although Nha Trang is located by the sea, Gia Lai province in the Central Highlands of Vietnam also has interesting local dishes, especially the Pleiku people’s famous grilled chicken and sticky rice in bamboo tubes, which I have shared my experience about in an article.Local Food, Au Liquor, Pleiku, Gia LaiAnd if you want to understand the overall picture of Pleiku city, the center of this province, you can read about it atTraveling Pleiku City, Gia Lai on Your Own
For travelers who want to transfer or continue to other cities from Nha Trang, I recommend getting to knowNha Trang Bus Stationwhich is an important hub for intercity travel in Vietnam, with convenient options for vans or buses.

Also, restaurants with Russian menus for the large tourist group add a unique charm to this city.
I, mr.hotsia, have tried stir-fried frog, grilled pork, and Vietnamese street coffee. Although some dishes didn’t fully meet my expectations, the experience showed me that Nha Trang is a city where food is still full of life and genuine culture, not just a typical tourist spot.
