Lang Co Town, a small stopover between Hue and Da Nang

If you travel from Hue (Huế) to Da Nang (Đà Nẵng) by train or car, one thing mr.hotsia never misses is visiting Lang Co, a small beach town located on a peninsula extending into the sea. This is a place where locals still live simply amidst beautiful and peaceful nature, very different from the major tourist spots around.

Once, mr.hotsia chose to take the train from Hue to Da Nang. The views along the way were truly breathtaking. The railway winds through mountains and the sea, offering a unique and stunning view of Vietnam’s coastline. On the return trip, I took a car, which stopped for a meal at Lang Co. I didn’t hesitate to grab my camera and head straight to the beach behind the restaurant.

Lang Co beach is special because it is surrounded by high mountains, giving the sea a deep dimension and a beauty different from beaches in big cities. The atmosphere here is very peaceful, with fishermen and locals living simply on this peninsula. There are no crowds of tourists like in Da Nang or Hoi An. Lang Co is perfect for those wanting to escape the hustle and bustle, to sit quietly alone or spend private, unhurried time.

Why does Lang Co still have few tourists?

The simple answer is that Lang Co is hundreds of kilometers away from both Hue and Da Nang and lacks many tourist facilities. This makes it unpopular for overnight stays. Most people just stop by or have a meal. mr.hotsia recommends not expecting beautiful accommodations or a variety of restaurants here because that is not the main focus of this town.

However, if you enjoy tranquility and want to admire the sea view without crowds, Lang Co is a stopover that will easily win your heart. You will also get to experience the lifestyle of locals living on this small peninsula.

Best time to visit Lang Co

If you ask mr.hotsia when is the best time to visit Lang Co, the answer is between April and July, and late August to November. This is when the weather is suitable and the sea is beautiful. Those who like swimming or walking on the beach will enjoy it the most. Be cautious during the late rainy and early cold season (December to March) because the weather is cool and the sea is not ideal for water activities.

mr.hotsia’s experience with Lang Co and Hue

For mr.hotsia, Lang Co is not just a stopover but a moment to pause and truly feel the natural seaside atmosphere before or after traveling in Hue and Da Nang. Hue itself is an equally interesting city. For those who like in-depth travel, walking around Hue at night to see the Perfume River Bridge lit with colorful lights or trying local dishes like hot Mi noodles in the winter is a special joy I highly recommend. In Hue, I stayed at an affordable guesthouse near the Perfume River, which was very convenient for walking and enjoying local food. If you are interested in accommodation in Hue, check out the reviews and recommendations atHotels, accommodations, guesthouses in Hueby mr.hotsia.

Traveling from Hue to Da Nang via Lang Co

For travel, mr.hotsia recommends trying the train from Hue to Da Nang because this railway offers beautiful natural views of the sea and mountains, especially around Lang Co. The views from the train window are hard to find elsewhere, and you also get to experience the friendly atmosphere of communities along the railway. (See more aboutTrain from Hanoi, Vinh to Hue)

But if you are in a hurry or want to stop for a meal and walk along the beach like me, taking a car is also a good option because it allows convenient stops and a full experience of Lang Co.

Additional tips for travelers

Don’t forget to bring beach shoes and a camera because the views at Lang Co are stunning. You can take photos and capture the atmosphere endlessly. If you like fresh seafood, there are small local shops selling grilled squid and delicious local seafood dishes. (See the atmosphere of Vietnamese grilled button squid inthis clip)

After stopping at Lang Co, if you still have time, don’t forget to visit Hue to experience the old city atmosphere with the World Heritage Nguyen Dynasty Imperial Palace and stroll through Dong Ba Market where some vendors speak Thai. (Read more atHue travel informationandHue Imperial City)

Hue and Lang Co are destinations that I, mr.hotsia, highly recommend for those who love nature and culture travel. Not just passing through, but truly spending valuable time at each place.
