Hotels, Accommodations, Guesthouses in Huế: The perfect getaway for travelers

Hello, I’m mr.hotsia sharing my firsthand experience from Huế, Vietnam, a city I can say is one of the easiest and most worthwhile destinations for budget travelers who want a great atmosphere. Especially about accommodations, which are very important when visiting Huế.

Many people ask me, “Where is a good place to stay in Huế?” or “How much does accommodation in Huế usually cost?” Let me help you imagine: most accommodations in Huế cost about 300 baht, or around 10 US dollars per room. At this price, you get a cool air-conditioned room, hot water ready to use, and fast WIFI—perfect for those who need constant online connection. However, most places do not include breakfast.

From my real exploration, hotels and guesthouses in Huế are priced very similarly. So if you want to negotiate, keep this price in mind to avoid being overcharged, especially during high season or festivals.

Popular Accommodation Area Near the Perfume River: Convenient and Easy to Explore

For accommodation areas, I recommend choosing near the Perfume River. It’s convenient, close to Dong Ba Market—a popular shopping spot—and you can walk to the old Huế Imperial City without needing a cyclo or motorbike, saving time and avoiding overpriced rides. This area has a great atmosphere. In the evening, you can stroll along the Perfume River, admire the colorful illuminated bridges, or enjoy a cold beer for less than 10 baht per can. This is my favorite time of day in Huế. (If you want to read more about the nightlife atmosphere in Huế, check out the articleNight Walks in Huế.)

One hotel I really liked is DMZ Hotel. Prices start at about 300 baht per night, but you can negotiate for a discount if staying multiple nights. The hot water here is excellent—strong flow and just the right temperature. The WIFI is really fast; I tested it by watching YouTube and uploading videos without any interruptions. It’s perfect for those who need constant internet access.

Things to Check Before Booking Accommodation in Huế

One thing I want you to be careful about before booking is the water system. Some places I encountered have hot and cold water but no properly tempered warm water. Sometimes the water pressure is too weak, making showers uncomfortable. So be sure to ask or test beforehand. Regarding internet, if you really need it, test it first because although internet in Vietnam, especially in Huế, is generally fast, some places still have slow signals.

Other Recommended Accommodations in Huế

Besides DMZ Hotel, there are many interesting guesthouses in Huế, especially one with a quirky name: “Google Hotel,” which is the actual name of a hotel in Huế. It costs about 400 baht per night, but you can negotiate for a lower price. The rooms have interesting Google-themed decorations and souvenirs. I haven’t stayed there but asked around. If you like something unique, try experiencing what cute or unusual Google-related items are hidden in the rooms.

Why Do I Like Staying in Huế?

Aside from affordable and convenient accommodations near tourist spots, Huế also has a charm in its food that I really love. Check out my articleFood in Huếto learn more. Huế has unique dishes different from Hanoi or Hoi An. Here, there is a noodle dish called “Mi,” which is a hot noodle soup that warms you up nicely during the cold season like January when I visited. If you want rice with curry, it’s also cheap, only about 20 baht.

There is also Dong Ba Market, a lively shopping area where vendors even speak Thai. It’s a great chance to exchange experiences with locals and tourists from many countries.

Connecting to Nearby Attractions

If you stay in the area I recommend, you can easily walk to the old Huế Imperial City, a UNESCO World Heritage site and a highlight of Huế (read more aboutHuế Imperial City). You can also stroll around Dong Ba Market to taste food and buy souvenirs, or take a boat ride to enjoy the Perfume River views—an experience not to be missed.

If you plan to continue to Da Nang, don’t forget to stop by Lang Co, a beautiful and peaceful seaside town on the way, perfect for those who like chill and quiet travel (see details atLang Co Between Huế and Da Nang, Vietnam)

Summary

For me, mr.hotsia, Huế is a lovely and easy-to-travel city with budget-friendly accommodations that offer good atmosphere and service. If you’re still unsure where to stay, I recommend the area near the Perfume River, DMZ Hotel, or if you like something unique, try Google Hotel. Don’t forget to check the hot water and WIFI before booking to ensure a smooth stay.
