Lạng Sơn Lake, the lake in Lạng Sơn: A peaceful spot in the heart of Lạng Sơn
If you've heard of Lạng Sơn as a northern border town of Vietnam, I, mr.hotsia, can tell you that this place is not just famous for its bustling morning market or roasted duck, but also hides the natural beauty of a lake in the city center calledLạng Sơn Lakethat offers us a quiet and perfect experience.
On this trip, I arrived in Lạng Sơn city in the cool afternoon with a gentle breeze, perfect for a walk around the lake. I stayed atHoang Son Hai Hotelan 8-story hotel I chose for one reason only: the stunning city view from a high vantage point. It is also close to food spots around the lake and the morning market.
Local life around the lake in Lạng Sơn
The lake in Lạng Sơn is not a large lake like others, but it is a green space and a relaxation area for the locals. I watched people exercising, some chatting by the lakeside. The chill atmosphere blends nature and urban life harmoniously.
While walking, I noticed several lakeside restaurants serving authentic Vietnamese food. One of them sellsLạng Sơn roasted duckwhich is a signature dish of this city. The special thing about Lạng Sơn roasted duck is the stuffing with Chinese star anise leaves, locally called "Mắc mật," which adds a unique aroma and flavor. I tried the freshly roasted duck; the taste was balanced, the skin crispy yet tender, with a fragrant spice scent that was not greasy. It was truly a roasted duck experience unlike any other.
Exploring the morning market and street food in Lạng Sơn
Speaking of food, I did not miss visiting the morning marketChợ Đông Kinha lively market full of Lạng Sơn locals. Here you can find fresh produce, vegetables, fruits, and authentic Vietnamese dishes to taste. I recommend tryingBún Cáfried fish noodle soup with fresh water hyacinth, which is fragrant and pairs very well with the small white vermicelli noodles.
Another dish I really liked wasRaw Egg Soupa secret recipe of Lạng Sơn locals where they remove the egg white and leave only the yolk floating in a sweet fragrant broth. The flavor is smooth, and the yolk has no fishy smell. This is one of the dishes I highly recommend trying if you visit here.
Convenience of travel and accommodation in Lạng Sơn city
For those planning to visit Lạng Sơn, I recommend staying in the city center for easy access to transportation and food spots, especially tall hotels like the one I stayed at,Hoang Son Hai Hotelwhich is affordable at about 600 baht, with good rooms and beautiful views. You can easily walk to the market or delicious fried rice restaurants in the same alley.
From Lạng Sơn, I plan to continue to Móng Cái city in Quảng Ninh province, a convenient and interesting route if you want to experience the diversity of northern Vietnam.
