Morning Market Lạng Sơn (Chợ Đông Kinh) Bright Life at Chợ Đông Kinh
One morning in Lạng Sơn Province, Vietnam, I, mr.hotsia, had the chance to enter a morning market calledChợ Đông Kinhor Morning Market Lạng Sơn, which is the heart of the local lifestyle. This market opens early in the morning. People gradually come to buy fresh goods, fruits, vegetables, and local dishes that are hard to find outside the main street restaurants.
This market is located in the central area of Lạng Sơn city, not far from the hotel where I stayed,Hoang Son Hai Hotelan 8-story hotel with a beautiful bird’s eye view of the city. Importantly, the walk from the hotel to the market is short, allowing me to wake up early and truly experience the local atmosphere.
Food and Atmosphere at the Morning Market
Upon entering the market, I was greeted by the aroma of fresh food and spices blending perfectly. The scent of freshly grilled Lạng Sơn roast duck wafted through the air, incredibly tempting. This market is not just an ordinary fresh market but also a hub for traditional Vietnamese dishes that are hard to find elsewhere, such asLạng Sơn Roast Duckwhich is famous as one of the must-try dishes of this city.
Besides roast duck, I also tastedBún Cáor rice vermicelli noodle soup with fried fish and fresh water hyacinth, a unique specialty of Lạng Sơn. The white soft noodles, fragrant and flavorful broth, made me feel energized when eaten early in the morning.
Other foods found in the market include grilled pork, grilled chicken, and various made-to-order Vietnamese dishes. I was especially impressed by the raw egg soup at a fried rice stall near my hotel, which is a soup with egg yolk floating in a sweet fragrant broth. The yolk had no fishy taste at all. It was a unique and memorable eating experience (read more atRaw Egg Soup)
Lifestyle and Vibrancy of the Market
The Morning Market Lạng Sơn is not just a place for trading but also a cultural center and social gathering spot for locals. I saw vendors carrying fresh goods with lively voices, locals exchanging news, and tourists like me, mr.hotsia, exploring the market to experience the true essence of this small town.
What I felt was simplicity yet bustling with life. This market enriched my travel experience in Lạng Sơn because besides tasting delicious food, I also witnessed a lifestyle unchanged by time.
Travel and Tips from mr.hotsia
Getting to the Morning Market Lạng Sơn is convenient. If you stay ata hotel in downtown Lạng Sơnlike the Hoang Son Hai Hotel I recommend, you can walk to the market in just a few minutes.
For tourists wanting to experience the market atmosphere in the morning, I suggest waking up very early because the market becomes lively from 5 to 6 AM. Fresh food and roast duck are brought out freshly grilled. Importantly, you should try ordering hot roast duck from street vendors just off the grill for the fullest flavor, rivaling that of restaurants (I detailed this atLạng Sơn Roast Duck)
