Lang Son Lake – A peaceful retreat in the border city of Vietnam

When talking about Lạng Sơn province in Vietnam, many may think of a bustling border town known for cross-border trade and a blend of Chinese-Vietnamese culture. But for me, mr.hotsia, Lang Son Lake is the perfect destination to experience the tranquility and natural charm of this city.

I arrived at this lake in the late afternoon after spending time exploring Lạng Sơn city, filled with the lively sounds of the morning market and the aroma of the famous Lạng Sơn roasted duck. I stayed atHoang Son Hai Hotelan 8-story hotel I recommend to friends for booking rooms. Not only does it offer quality accommodation at an affordable price, but it also provides beautiful panoramic views of the city and the lake from above.

Atmosphere and Feelings at Lang Son Lake

Lang Son Lake is located in the heart of the city, a green space perfect for a relaxing stroll. The lake water reflects the soft evening sunlight, with small boats floating here and there. I walked around the lake, seeing locals sitting, fishing, or groups of teenagers quietly chatting.

As I walked along the lakeside path, I caught the aroma of food from several lakeside restaurants, especially the famous Lạng Sơn roasted duck. I have written about it inthe Lạng Sơn Roasted Duck articlewhere I mentioned that the duck tastes best when served hot. Many lakeside restaurants do it well. I didn’t miss ordering roasted duck to enjoy with a cold beer amid the cool breeze from the lake.

Connection to Local Life and Culture

The lake is not just a beautiful viewpoint but also the center of daily life in Lạng Sơn. People spend their evenings chatting in the lakeside park, children play and swim happily, while the elderly exercise or practice Tai Chi in a friendly atmosphere.

In the morning, the market near the lake is bustling with vendors. I usually start my day by tastinglocal Lạng Sơn disheslike Bún Cá (fish noodle soup with water hyacinth), which is hard to find elsewhere, and the raw egg soup I described inRaw Egg Soupwhich has a unique preparation method but an incredibly smooth flavor.

Convenience of Travel and Accommodation

Lạng Sơn province has a compact city center and very convenient transportation. I recommend staying at tall hotels likeHoang Son Hai Hotelor other hotels in the same area because besides affordable prices, you can enjoy panoramic views of the city and lake from your room.

Getting to the lake from the hotel is very easy—just a 10-15 minute walk. Alternatively, renting a bicycle to ride around the lake is a worthwhile option to experience the atmosphere more fully.

mr.hotsia's Personal Impressions

For me, Lang Son Lake is not just a tourist spot but a place that reminds me of simple travel and closeness to local life. I enjoy watching the sunset here, the scent of roasted duck carried by the breeze, and the laughter of children playing by the lake. All these together create memories I want to invite everyone to experience firsthand.

If you are planning to travel to northern Vietnam, don’t forget to stop by Lạng Sơn province and spend a day at Lang Son Lake. You will find a peaceful corner of the border city full of cultural colors, architecture, and delicious food I have written about in many articles.Lạng Sơn Lakeis another experience I, mr.hotsia, want everyone to try.
