Experience the atmosphere and accommodations in Lai Châu city with mr.hotsia
Lai Châu province is located in the northwest border area of Vietnam. The province mostly consists of high mountains and some plains, resulting in fresh air and beautiful nature that differs from other provinces in Vietnam. Especially during my visit in May 2015, I spent 2 nights in Lai Châu city, also known as Lai Giang, which is the capital of this province.
For accommodation in Lai Châu city, I chose to stay at a hotel called “Phuong Thang kinh chao quy khach,” which is very conveniently located in the city center. It perfectly balances old charm and modernity. It’s an easy walk from the hotel to the morning market and also to the city lake. This hotel is a great starting point for those who want to experience local life and enjoy the city’s beauty at the same time.
Why choose to stay in the city center or near the lake?
From my experience, mr.hotsia, there are many hotels in Lai Châu city to choose from. Most offer various additional services such as massage parlors or karaoke within the premises. However, a caution is the frequent presence of cigarette smoke in many hotels of this style. For those who dislike smoke, I recommend choosing hotels without these services, like the one I stayed at, which had no massage or karaoke services, making the stay quieter and more comfortable.
Another reason I recommend staying in the city center or by the lake is that the lake area is a popular spot for locals and tourists to relax in the evening and at night. In the morning, you can easily walk to enjoy coffee by the lake. If you want to find food, there are many restaurants offering both local Vietnamese dishes and common menu items.
Morning Market and Lai Châu Local Life
One morning, I woke up early and walked to the central morning market, which is full of colors and lively local life in Lai Châu. Here you can find fresh vegetables, local fruits, and many interesting local foods such as Nem Phang and Vietnamese Chicken Biryani. I recommend experiencing and tasting these foods in the authentic atmosphere of the morning market, as it best reflects the local culture.

There is also a video introducing special dishes like grilled button squid and Vietnamese chicken biryani that I have tried and can guarantee will please food lovers.
Convenience and Transportation in Lai Châu
Choosing accommodation in the city center or near the lake also offers the advantage of convenient transportation, as it is close to the main bus station. This makes traveling to various tourist spots in Lai Châu province easy, whether it’s high mountains, waterfalls, or hill tribe villages on the outskirts, all of which have natural charm and beauty not to be missed, as detailed in the articleLai Châu Provincewhere I describe the tourist attractions and cultures of various hill tribes in detail.
Summary of mr.hotsia’s Impressions of Accommodation in Lai Châu
During my stay in Lai Châu, I experienced a unique atmosphere in northern Vietnam, combining the natural environment with hill tribe lifestyles. Walking through the morning market, enjoying the city lake, and most importantly, staying at the convenient and peaceful “Phuong Thang kinh chao quy khach” hotel allowed me to rest fully without disturbance from noise or unpleasant smells.
If you are planning to visit this province, I recommend choosing accommodation in the city center or by the lake to truly experience the city’s atmosphere and enjoy convenient travel, as well as tasting local food at the morning market.
