In Sapa, farming is still practiced. If you ride a motorcycle around, you will see buffaloes plowing the fields. Both children and adults from the hill tribes help with the farming. The best time to see the beautiful terraced rice fields is when the sun is shining, so visiting in summer is ideal. In winter, the mist creates a different kind of beauty. So, visiting in both seasons is recommended. The area with the most terraced fields is on the way to the Thai (Tai) village Ban Ho (see Sapa map), along a road beside a high cliff.

On the right side, there are terraced rice fields stretching for tens of kilometers along the route to the village. Looking down hundreds of meters below, you see terraced fields and hill tribe villages interspersed, creating a dreamlike scene admired worldwide.
